Getting these in the next few days and I have been told I may have problems with alloy/strut clearence...

Can anyone shed any light?

I had the same wheels on my old turbo Will.

The rears were completely fine but I had to use 10mm spacers on the front so that they would clear the coilover. Without the spacers the wheel wouldn't just touch the coilover but it wouldn't even move.

Really? 10mm spacers are a bit much! lol

What coilovers were you running? Although am guessing that I am going to have issues whatever struts are used!

doesnt matter even on standard struts your going to need spacers on the front.

Dont mind using spacers - but dont fancy 10mm ones tbh...

5 max!

Its the big width(for a 15" rim), and the et49 offset that will cause problems. So yeah does sound like it'll be a spacer jobbie. 10mil spacers sounds dodgy as hell though lol

Yeah I have run 7j 15s before, but the offset was 42, so they were OK.

I am not liking this 10mm spacer thing at all!:(

They are the right ET! Its the width of the rim thats the problem:roll:

i think he means order et40 to clear the strut.

Take a look at the pic i hosted in the For Sale thread Will, they are TH's in a 6.5J @ ET49 and that little gap is about 8mm!

EDIT: Cant find Original post so heres the pic

Alas 49mm is not the right et for 7x15. I went through all of this to get my 8x15 wheels so that the inner face remained the same and just the outer edge moved to where i wanted it to

just to add, i have run 7j x 16 wheels with an et of 49 for about 5 years now, on standard struts and avo coilover,s and gaz coilovers, i did not need any spacers, and the wheels did not hit the struts:thumb:

Will, don't you run 6" front springs? so your spring platform will sit quite high so would probably clear. where does your spring platform sit now in relation to the tyre?

Looking at that pic and from what I have been told, it fouled on the steering arm - not the strut!

Dan

this could be the case, but would also explain why lee had no such issues with 16's as they would of that bit more height for clearence on said part

looking at mikes pic with the 6.5j 15" TH would mean a et49 7j wheel will fit. half an inch is aprox 12mm.

add half of that onto the inner edge and it looks like there will still be loads of room.

ive ran 8jx17's (et45) on std struts and kw coilovers with no clearance issues at all

Indeed, a 16" would fit with ease.

But the wheel in qeustion is a 15" variation. So, as already stated, your funked.

I didnt bother with those TH's in the FS because of this thread.

Surely if a 17'' rafino or Kosei goes on (et 49) the 15'' ought to be OK?

No, because the smaller wheels get problems fouling the suspension, not the arches.

That actually makes more sense no! The larger rims will obviously sit in the gap between spring platform and the steering arm whereas 15s sit inline with the steering arm...

So in this case bigger is indeed better.
