im building a nova rally car and either lookin at putting a 1.4 16v out of a corsa or a 1.6 8v from a nova gsi. The 8v has more bhp and torque but not a great deal. I will probably start with a standard engine then build the spec up over time. would appreciate some advice on which people would think is better.
if your planning on modifying it later down the line id say go for the 1400.
why a 1600 for the 8v and only 1400 for the 16v?
Best of both worlds, 1600 16v from a corsa gsi will be nice for upgrades in the future. Guessing the class limits your engine choice?
you might find thats the rules of the class he wants to run rich. i know in super stockhatch you can have either a 1.6 8v of 1.4 16v

Yep, was changed some time ago to keep it "competitive".
Ah i didnt realise that. In that case the 1400 16v would be easier to get power from than the 8v

i am either goin to run in the 1400 class or 1600 class not sure at mo. i was set on going 1400 16v but then i found out that the 1600 8v from a gsi puts out good power. i have a red top but not using that because i will be competing with mk2 escorts with 15 grand red tops and i will never be competative.

Wouldnt even worry, id say go 8v, exhaust, cams, keep it simple and spend rest of money using the car and having fun!
