i've recently got an h plate gsi and only have one complaint that isn't an improvment over the older cars.... the bloody headlights!
i put in my philips blue vision bulbs but driving at night even with full beam is bad and you just can't see the road ahead.
has anyone else found the mk2 headlights to be a problem and whats the best thing to do? i know i could go for higher wattage bulbs but really wanted to keep them legal. oh... and i don't need my eyes tested. :o

Strikes me that along the way your bulbs arn't getting all that they should.

I've found Nova lights to be average, but certainly capable of seeing things. Check the resistance at each bulb.

well, i think they are crapish i do agree, good for what they are for though, i've got me spot lamps in me evo bumper though, they brighten the world up :)

Mk 2 lights are Ok but not a patch on some of the newer style headlights (Pug 106 - 96on for example) I never notice much difference between dipped or full beam.

i find that the mk2 headlights are poor too i feel as though i have to put full beam on to get decent sight. they definately are not a patch on modern cars. but saying that the bright lights on modern cars really p!ss me off cos it seems like they are on full beam al the time.

I got new bulbs for mine, ice blue ones, and they are awesome, no more problems for me :lol:

good point Nova Flair, modern lights are a bit blinding but Ok for the person behind the wheel!

Where do you get the bulbs from Anton, they sound good - do they look like alot of the Renaults with the blue lights?

the headlights on my brothers j reg GSi are the same, when u put the full beam on it's just as if there on dipped headlights and u can't realy see much in front of u !!!!! they will probably just need adjusting

my mk2 headlights are sh1te too, even after both new headlight units+ice blue bulbs from halfords!
