i know i should be shot for mentioning kia on here but.....
i bought a cheap kia auto to sell on not had much do with auto's
start engine runs ok put it drive ect engine starts hunting
has no power at all either any one got any ideas what this could be,

my mates merc slk reved up hi but in drive was disabled as there was a faulty brake switch and it had to be reset.

any ideas where i would find the brake switch,
has any one tried buy parts for kia,... bloody rediculous prices,
ford,vaux,average bottom arm £18-£20 kia £90 wtf

im not saying it is the brake switch but knowing kia is could be anything.

very true, just bought a few cars as this time of year they sell for nowt
it's a good time for buying but not selling hoping to get a few extra quid to get over buying for 6 kids lol in the new year

sounds like the idle up valve.

when drive is engaged the box drags the engine, so the idle is increased.

it sounds like it works much like the A/C idle up valves fitted to early FI cars.

try removing it and cleaning. also check for vacuum leaks. i wouldnt expect too much power from it as auto boxes sap loads out of engines.

it will either be on the throttle body or a separate solenoid with tubing going likely to the airbox and the manifold somewhere.

it may be worth trying to get an ECU diagnosis in case its something like a badly adjusted TPS
