my nova 1.2 (first car) project

here is some pics of my nova, i'm only 15 and was bored so i bought this as a project. when i got it, it did'nt look too bad, but since then i have had it welded, 2x new sills etc...

this is when i bought it.

this is when i changed the wheels (they were'nt the best wheels but they were free, off a cavvy going to the scrappy.

this is how it stands now with my new wheels witch i got off my uncles mk3 astra free of charge which is now living in a scrappy

the sills are black because of it having new sills (painted to give a bit of protection on weld from rot) car will be having a re-spray some time next year red with rover/mg grey. Red body with rover/mg grey bumpers, wheels, handles and mirror bases.

plans are to get car re-sprayed add gsi spoiler, gsi front bumper or sr front bumper with splitter, red and grey sr interior, wheels sprayed rover/mg grey and k&n, full exhaust system etc...and get it to PV09

thanks for comments, never thought that it would cost as much as it has. i paid £200 for the car and have since spent another £600 on welding, parts, m.o.t etc... luckily it passed it's m.o.t with no advisories and i have been quoted £450- £600 for a full re-spray.

Thats true...

Everytime my parents flip out at all my cars on the drive, my nan steps in and says "well, it could be a lot worse, he could be into to drink and drugs and gods knows what..." lol they soon pipe down.

I don't get the ploughing money into something, you can't fully enjoy 4 years, at which time it'll need updating/repairing. Like buying a ps3 and letting it sit in is box, maybe polishing it once in a while, buying some nice games and some jazzy controllers, only to find in 2 years its worth alot less and the ps4 is out.

I don't want to sound horrible, you obviously get enjoyment out of it, just seems like your missing out on the fun bit :(

chimp007 uk, i see your point but it's somthing to do because most of my mates are older than me and are driving round all the time (can't go with them because my parents don't trust them) and my other mates are always out on minimotoz etc which i don't have. if i get this project finished i may sell and get another project like a landy defender or another nova. i'm 16 next sep so i may buy a rs50 or a pit bike to go round on.

just vaux trev, colour or rust? used t cut, standrd cutting wax and auto glym polish for colour and had 2x new sills for rust because it was badly rotten underneath the sill.

its been a while since ive updated it so heres a small update.

ive lowered the back end not sure by how much, i boght a GSI front bumper for £10 but its a bit past it and i also got some side skirts cheap but they have the passenger side rear fin missing so i am on the look out for one.
I also baught a Gsi spoiler for £20 (in red) and a mint tailgate for £20.

I have a few bodyshops lined up the respray so that should be happening soon, i will get some pics of the parts and the car soon.

if anyone has a decent Gsi front bumper, i dont mind what colour and will collect within a resonable distance, PM me with details.

it was going quite bad on the inside though and it was easier to get the new one because it was mint and only £20 and i was planning on having the car resprayed anyway when i got the funds.:)

hi all, just a small update i have decided to make it a sri rep, i know it doesn't look as good as gsi but its cheaperlol i bought a SRi interior off of Bola yesterday and got it all fitted shortly after, the interior itself is in pretty good condition and looks a million times better than the old one:) here are a few pics i took today of it fitted in the car:

Thanks im very pleased with the condition of it and it makes a huge difference to the look of the car, and they are so much nicer to sit in than the old ones.:)

This car belongs to a mate of mine he was going to fit a xe in it but has got bored he has had the car for about 4 years and looked after it, plus i have always loved this car so now that it has come up for sale im very happy and giving some serious thought about buying it!!! :D

Its a 1.2 on 40's with full leather interior, coilovers and a few other trick bits and is up for a resonable price, just need to sell mine now :roll:

Update (well kinda) Im no longer getting my mates nova reason being he came down yesterday and it needs quite a bit of work tbh so im sticking with mine!! Hopefully mine will be on the road next month just need to sort a few bits, then it will be going for a re-spray back end of this year then i will be ordering a set of Gaz coilovers and some new wheels sometime, basically i want it to look similar to my mates but with some of my own touches!!

Right I thought it was about time for an update, so here it is I recently bought a cage and rear brace off Deanwilko, and thats about it lol :roll:

It will definatly be getting resprayed towards the end of year/ early next year, because I should have the money by then and it will hopefully be on the road and at some of the show's/ meet's next year :d

I have also temporarily put a sub in the wheel well it was only a 10 min job and I will either finish properly or just take it out :)

Rysee the brace is just a bolt on one and I dont think they make that much of a difference tbh I only put it in for looks anyway lol

Small update, I got some pics of the car cleaned the other day, which I will upload when I have got a moment, also I gave it a wash yesterday and went Nova hunting in the local scrappy, found a MK1 More Door 1.4 which I took the front wiper arms, due to mine having corsa arms (longer) and the trim for the boot will get pics up maybe tomorrow :thumb:

I might paint the cage white again and paint my current wheels white too, although I have been thinking about red or just a totally random wheel/cage colour combo.

I will deffinatley be getting it painted and wax oiled before next winter if all goes to plan, i have the funds and a painter lined up just need to book it in really but im waiting until i have a GSI front bumper and going to get it painted all at once for the easiest. So all being well it will be out to a couple of show's and meet's next year :d

Still havent got any pics of it yet because it keeps raining on off all the time at the minute. But i will upload some old ones from a few weeks back and get them put on :thumb:

Time for an update lol

I have bought a GSI front bumper which is fitted, im ordering some GAZ GHA coilovers very soon and going for its respray back end of December/ early January hopefully would have been painted by now but things kept popping up and it got put on hold, oh I am also thinking of fitting some white Comp MO's if I can find a decent set at a good price.

I will get some pics tomoz of it as it stands at the minute if the weathers ok, should also be changing the fuel filter tomorrow too because it has been cutting out so going to change that, it has ran out of fuel a few times so hopefully its just s**t thats been dragged through.

Yea Craig I fitted them that day lol was bored, Dean will let you know, I may be getting a Corsa B as a evryday car in August so will be doing more things to the Nova lol Could you send us a pic of that bumper please, may be interested :thumb:

Ok mate cheers, if I get a corsa id like to play with my engine a bit or swap the engine for more power, stick a full cage init, basically a 'track slag' reason id like a corsa for my first year of driving is because i would be gutted if i smashed my nova whereas i wouldn't be too bothered about a corsa lol

Its going for paint in Jauary all being well, I will also be ordering my GAZ coilovers after Christmas too.

I dont know whether to smooth the front number plate recess, and have a cool lourved bonnet when, what do you guys think?

back on topic though, i cut up a ****ed gsi front bumper i had lying around so i can smooth my front number plate recess (like Benns) and i am also thinking of smoothing my number plate light on the rear bumper and having 2 lights under my grab handle instead, and i was also thinking of smoothing my grab handle and having a handle/lever or boot popper/button underneath the grab handle lol

opinions welcome/needed :)

^^^^^^^ just like a Lolvo. i used mk1 golf number plate lights under the grab handle for a quick fix m.o.t pass as i had a gay abyss rear bumper with the light smoothed over.

brings back the day when i got my 1st nova click my link and take a look.as for the bumpers every1 to there own but think you would make it look cheap doing bumpers red like you say go for a dark colour would break it up a bit then the sri ive got now are done in grey keep up the work mate:thumb:

Yep, its the best way to see what I prefer, when its there in front of me :)

Shame about the Nova, same thing happened to my unlcles old Nova SRi, speant lots of money and time getting it and keeping it looking good, it then got stolen with bits taken off it, got it back tidied it up again then sold it to a lad that just passed his test which then said hello to a lamp post lol

Few small updates:

The car is now booked in at local auto electricians for alarm and c/l, it is the place where i did my work experience so im fitting it and their there to help if i need it, but i get to use their workshop etc...

I have got some electric windows to fit in it this will be done at same time as c/l and alarm.

Sometime this week I will be ordering a set of 4 Toyo T1R tyres for my new wheels and also a full exhaust system, will probs go for an ashley as they seem decent and are a good price.

Then all thats left to do is order my GAZ GHA coilover set up when I get chance then send it off for paint after im happy ive got/done everything I want to :)

Ive done a bit to it since I last updated but never updated as was waiting until I had something to show as an update lol

But I have fitted the following:

-Electric windows
-Central locking
-Alarm and immob
-Full Ashley exhaust system and 4 branch manifold (also de-catted)
-My white tigra alloys and a set of new Toyo T1R's
-Fitted my digi dash properly instead of my previous bodge job lol

and some other little bits, funds have ran low now and I am still needing a full respray and to order my GAZ GHA coilovers on the club deal :thumb:
