digi dash problem

hey guys

today paul (aw06's brother),

installed my dash very well, drove home and the speed thing was wrong, so took it out once i was home and flick the little switch and it was fine, drove and checked it, then got home and it just stopped working, so i took it out and when i moved it it would go on and off. so checked over a few things with help from aw06, and then was putting it back in, while it was flickering every second or so, from dodgy wire.

then appear a small blast of smoke and a burning smell
now it obs doesnt work.

can anybody advise me to what it can be, have i burnt out a wire, or have i toasted the digi??

cant test it until january when i go back to aw06's place.

Sounds like you have earthed a wire off the steering column,check the digi on the battery itself,just connect up the live and earth to the terminals,shine a torch to see if it lights up,could just have blown bulbs maybe

ok cool where do i put wires to?

there is the two plugs yeh? on the back of the digi

all the blacks to + and all the brown to - and no other wires touching then it will power up or not if its fried. when installing them soldered and heat shrink or black tape is a must to avoid mishaps.

i did this a while back and my radio went off too, it had blown a fuse when my life touched the metal body of the car

if it works dude, use the guide in my sig to make sure its all in and correct \/ :thumb:

ok, brains nova no you cant have the wiring lol. i will be leaving it in for either another digi dash, or when i sell the car its ready for a conversion.

and you say all the brown and black wires etc, as in cut them out of the loom and then test them. as i dont wanna cut them all out. really
