View Full Version : Best Colour for an Early SR Nova (Please add Pics)
Yeah, um, so what, in your opinion is the best colour for a Nova SR (early/mk1)? I'm going to build a replica one as opposed to the sport I was origionally considering but I'm undecided on the colour as yet.
So, feel free to make suggestions and if possible, back them up with Pics.

Your choice of colours are:
1. Yellow
2. Brown
3. Red
4. White
5. Green
6. Black!!! Not sure on the MK1 as I haven't seen one.
Green is probably the rarest colour but yellow FTW.

was there a light blue colour too.
was there a light blue colour too.
Laser blue?
Personally I'd go Jamaica yellow.
silver (star silver iirc)
It is indeed star silver, my mate has an early merit with the black vinyl on lower half, dropped to the deck on cav slabs and with a 1400 carbed astra lump in it it seemed to go like the starship enterprise on full chat..........
We affectionately renamed it "fast as f**k silver" lol
Have some rep for having cool taste in nova colours and reminding me of my mis-spent youth and the first nova i fell in love with!!

Dod are the two yellow in the poll as one's Jamaican and others mustard etc?
Scott
Well tbh I reckon I'd go Mustard as Jamica is a little too bright and would highlight the "Replica" look of the car. Sorry, should have been a little more specific. lol

OFF TOPIC: I really miss driving a nova everyday (mine was so much fun:cry: ) but also don't miss the non-luxury you get with them lol even the GSi was not exactly nice to drive in winter compared to a BIG barge type car like the Passat, if you have a 15-20 min drive in a nova in winter forget it being warm, mine seam to take ages to get warm so the heater could push hot air in, thats if it was working (without it squeaking so loud everyone walking by would stair)

Jamaica Yellow - Another wee question, how come I always thought it was 'Jamaican' ? lol
My choice has to be jamacia yellow or to be really diffrent china blue with the grey round the bottom not a really SR colour but could be nice .

I will own up to this balls up Dod :(
Because my car to me looks green I (noob) had put green. Mines infact ocean pacific blue. FAIL ;)
The SR should be really Helios Blue as the one that was on Ebay a few weeks back.
I'm sure I've seen a dark Green SR though, kinda like a Dull Cav Turbo Diesel colour..... Oh well. :D

Yeah thats mine with my mate andys jamaica yellow 1.2 next to it. Unfortunately he had to get rid of it as he's got too many cars lol Think his brothers got it now.
Ok, well so far thats 3 shades of yellow. Mustard, Jamica and a paler colour again. Can anyone identify it?
I've benn told its gazelle beige..
Hmmmm, another one to consider so.
Well 18 Yellows ( I had it in twice by accident. lol)
10 White
8 Brown and only 1 red. lol
Again thanks for partaking everyone.

white is the way forward.
i'd like to sugesst an old 70's colour, apache orange (iirc) an sr would look mint in it! its vaux too
The only thing about Orange is its not a Genuine SR/GT Colour and I really wanna keep it as origional as possible. So much so I have a chap scouring ebay.de for a pair of over riders for it which would look so ****ing cool.
personally id go jamica yellow or mocca brown
I've benn told its gazelle beige..
Yep.
I like mustard yellow, but I don't think thats an original pre-facelift colour - I thought Jamaican Yellow was the original, then mustard came in after D reg? If thats the case I'd go for brown.
oooh, Brown and White are tied, but Yellows still top.
I actually like the Mustard Yellow moreso than the Jamica but as said, whatever the pole finishes at i'll go for.
Also, as the car is a 90 and the plate states that, I dont think it'll be too much trouble to stick on a newer colour.

if yellow wins which i think it will, Will there be a new poll for the different shades.
I'm considering it but the Haters may complain about me having so many poles, although this one does seem to be Popular with 52 votes and counting.
mustard ftw, jamaican is so passe, lol or cav mk1 custard yellow (special order colour)

AH HAAA!!! A Green SR Nova!!
i feel if i had put the pics of mine up sooner there would be more votes for brown therefore this poll should be re-run :P
behave. kak brown is so over used. do the rare colour, then its gonna stand out more!
lmfao how many brazil brown sr's have you seen? ive only ever seen one where as there are ****e loads of yellow ones
I feel you're right, It should have been Burgo Brown but meh!! lol

Agreed and plenty of white aswell. Something less used definatley. But not red according to the poll lol
All valid posts but over here thare are NO early SR Novas or Corsa GTs so all Novas are Facelift and either Red, Blue or White. I want something different.
i say you do a rep of the nova on the front of the haynes
;)
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/greennova-1.jpg
thats fooking ace! dod get it built like yesterday!
Yeah but its a Corsa A I'm building though. I know theres no difference but I wanna do a GT Rep. If I can get a 2nd Burbery interior I'm intending on doing a later spec SR Nova and that may just be a candidate.
Ideally I want a Sport, an Early and late SR/SRi, a GTE and a GSi. Greedy I know but meh, whatever.

Stunning car mate, do you own this at the moment.
Ok, looks like Yellow is the clear winner. Now, can someone confirm that the Early SRs only came in 2 shades of yellow and 1 Beige?
I found these 2 Colours in Jacks Colour Chart, but need confirmation of the exact Colours and if at all possible, pictures to accompany them.

I say silver should be a winner.
I really think Vauxhall should have done the mk2 SRi in Silver.
My choice has to be jamacia yellow or to be really diffrent china blue with the grey round the bottom not a really SR colour but could be nice .

Jamaica Yellow 462
Mustard Yellow 475/56
Gazelle Beige 428/51L
Need to update my chart lol
[edit] I still think mustard was a post-facelift colour
Seemingly it was a later colour, nearer the faceligt Mk1s, the same ones as the GTE Bumper and Grill in Grey but it shouldnt matter too much as the car is a 90 (which is stated on the number plate) and a notion thats come to me is thatpossibly, if I can get the propper SR Interior and GTE Style Bumpers, I may just convert it into a 90 Spec Mustard Yellow SR and still have the rest left over for a Sport Replica if I decide to do one.
So you wont be building an early sr repl then? lol
btw my beige one isnt an sr colour, just a base model colour, mustard would look good on the gte spec bumpers but if you still want to do an early one I don't think it would look right.
Simon what size tyres you got on the 3 Spokes?
No I am gonna build a Snowplough'd SR but may update it to a GTE type SR if I decide to build a Sport Rep. That way I'll have the correct Bumper and interior for it.
I actually LOVE you!
Why thanks lol If Dod aint going for that look i think you should do it with yours, fully on SR replica. Does yors have the later grey check seats?
Ok folks, the decision has been made. Its going to be Mustard Yellow.
Thanks to everyone that partook in the Pole, supplied into and pics.
There should be a start made in the New year at some stage so look out for the WIP.
