X20XE - Very flat till 4k...

Ive noticed that my Cav doesnt pull very well, untill it gets to 4k, and you notice it pulling harder.

Same in every gear.

Im thinking airflow meter?

Any ideas?

afm/o2 sensor

EML wasnt on, but it did go on today for about 20 secs and died. Started up and it was fine again. Seems to pulse as if its getting a bad reading from a sensor. I do suspect the AFM.

My mate reckons taking the AFM element out and sticking it in boiling water to clean it?

Get it plugged in the a On-bored Diagnostic Machine.

does sound like the afm to me. If they're dirty they cant sense any airflow until there is lots.....if that makes sense, so wont bring up a fault code as the ecu still thinks everything is ok, so it just provides enough fuel for the car to idle when it may be pulkling at 2000rpm. Then when the airflow builds up it begins to sense it through the dirt and wake up a bit :tard:.
Spray of carb cleaner may do the trick.

I'd say go for the afm give it a clean with some spirit or something like that which will get any dirt off without damaging anything.

WD40 on the loom plugs to get rid of any moisture. Check for any ECU codes, may give you an idea and check for the obvious stuff leads & sparks etc.

Im sure its gonna be something easy to sort out.
