I think its the pro series you want. The other ones may just be OE replacements. dont hold me to it though.

the pro series are silver, but the one's i've seen most people fit are black..

ahh ok..

also, fitting them, heard a few people say cap's need counter sinking, then others say they didn't need to do it?

prowave are stronger i believe and come as std in most steel rods. the normal black ones are fine tbh.

i would personaly give each cap a slight chamfer just to be on the safe side...

Steel rod bolts are different thread and pitch to normal rods iirc so I'm not even sure if pro bolts will fit a oe rod

The Saenz rods we fitted in Gavs engine use ARP L-19 bolts, now they are apparently VERY strong.

You can see if the caps need a slight chamfer or not by holding the cap upto a light with the bolt passing through it, its quite clear.

As above as thats what Dar did to mine when he fitted them.

i thought the same tbh but i was told they do the pro wave's in different threads to suit std rods and steel rods...

I should think they make the pro bolts to suit stock rods but if you order some ARP's for normal rods they will be black and usually £65, I've not seen anything but those used on normal rods but that doesn't mean they don't make them.

It certainly wouldn't take long to check if the thread or pitch is the same though

I believe its a poor bit of machining (suprisingly on such a top product) that sticks out and causes the bolt to not seat correctly, I was shown years ago and I remember it being very clear when you held it up to light.

Regardless of what people tell you I would always check it as it will be expensive mistake if you get it wrong

for some reason some rods dont need machining and some do. my mate didnt need it with his mk3 astra c20xe. and my engine (calibra c20xe) did need some machining. its very simple though.

*edit*

i have the pro series (silver), the fit in OEM rods.
