Im going to look at a Cav on saturday for a runabout. Its a 2.0 16v with a X20 engine.

What do i need to look for?

Obviously its a Cav so i need to have a good look over it. Thats no hassle. Just the engine im concerned about. Has had recent timing belt kit fitted.

I remember selling alot of camshaft sensors for them, but not alot other than that...

Cracked exhaust manifolds are a common issue on them

Oooh and also, what C20XE bits will fit it?

If anything?

I have a chance of a full exhaust too. Im guessing it'd be rather similar?

If the later ones came with an X20XEV hold out for one... much stronger block :)

Ah fair enough :D I can never remember if the X20XE was the VERY early ecotec engine which was basically the EURO dooowatsit version of the red-top..

The X20XEV with the girdled bottom end is a brilliant lump..

I thought the early ones shared the block with the C20XE?

check the cooling system bottle for signs of oil.
