Did you know (apparantly) that fruit pastels and similar "chewy" sweets are made from the after reaction that comes from making polyester.
 So I was told many years ago.
Fav sweets -
has to be cola cubes or cola bombs, or the "dust" from the bottom of an almost empty bottle of the above. Used to get a 1/4 of cola cubes and a 1.4 of dust!
Then moon dust (that stuff that crackles in your mouth) - amazing stuff!
Then - I'm torn but chocolate wise anything like white chocolate with crispy bits in it. Lidl do an amazing white chocolate crunch bar for pennies!

Think someone may have been pulling your chain. Chewy sweets are mostly gelatin:
Gelatin (also gelatine, from French (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_language) gélatine) is a translucent, colourless, brittle, nearly tasteless solid substance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid), extracted from the collagen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collagen) inside animals' skin and bones. It has been commonly used as a gelling agent (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gelling_agent) in food (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food), pharmaceutical (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pharmaceutical), photography (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photography), and cosmetic manufacturing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmetic_manufacturing). Substances containing gelatin or functioning in a similar way are called gelatinous. Gelatin is an irreversibly hydrolyzed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrolyzed) form of collagen. Gelatin is classified as a foodstuff and has E441 E number (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E_number). It is in almost every gummy food eaten today as well as other things, such as marshmallows, and skittles.

Spangles used to be nice when younger, along with mojo's or those aniseed twists and the army and navy sweets to get rid of colds but never worked.
Chocolate covered marzipan which I ain't seen in a long time. Used to be in two sections in a yellow wrapper and made by Frys I think!!!
Flumps are still a good one.
Welcome back you lovely lovely Whisper yum yum yum yum lol
Mmmmmm Wispa. Also like anything that's white chocolate, or Dairy Milk tasters, and Haribo.

well after all these years i finally checked google out. first thing that came up was:
: The Secret Chocolate bar was made by Nestle in the 80's and 90's and was one of the most delicious treats ever. It had a sort of bird's nest chocolate outer with a creamy mousse center similar to the inside of a Walnut Whip. They came in a white protective card sleeve and apparently had a gold wrapper with the word Secret written on it in purple.
The television advert featured an elegant lady sat on a train eating her Secret bar 'in secret' with the accompanying music "I see her face everywhere I go... Have you seen her?..."
Unfortunately the Secret Chocolate Bar was withdrawn from sale due to the high production costs and low volume of sales.
