Technically it is a Nova, just a bit smoother...

I am a Nova lover at heart, this being my favourite past nova -->

And this was the Vauxhall that I miss enough to have gone ahead and built my new one -->

Anyway, enough about my background and past loves, heres the latest Corsa B that I can say I built myself...

The car cost me £200 with a blown engine and an almost immaculate shell and interior!
A donor car cost me £100 with the wheels, suspension, exhaust and a few bits that I didn't use but will sell on ebay when I am done building this car.

Heres how she started off just 5 weeks ago...

...ugh.

As I am a nightclub manager I get very little time during daylight hours to work on anything, nevermind my cars, so to have built this in such a short space of time is quite an acheivement.

I'd just like to point out that I have had absolutely no help from anybody with any part of this engine swap, even down to lifting the engine up into the engine bay, I had to lean in and lift the engine up 3 inch and slide a trolley jack underneath the sump on my own. I am also very much an amateur, as this is the first engine swap I have completed from start to finish on my own with no help.

The engine runs and sounds as well, iff not better and shinier than it looks! The twins sound incredible and the old skool feel whilst driving it is completely matt damon (it's amaaaaaazinglol ).

As soon as xmas is out of the way I intend to weld a rear strut brace in place, buy front upper and lower strut braces, fit a high lift cam and then probably think about getting some coilovers and some decent wider wheels. These are 6 1/2 inch wide.

Currently the car's engine transplant is "finished", as it drives fine and would only fail it's MOT on one thing, and that is air in the brakes. Other threads in the mechanical forum state my pain and anger because I have rounded off and butchered the rear bleed nippleS. Hopefully today I will be able to solve the rear nipple issue, but it is looking like I will be replacing the rear drums with discs (regardless of the small benefits of this, I see it as a "manly" mod as drums just say "look at how slow I look" to me lol ).

Anyway, I hope you guys like it even half as much as I do.

Incase any of you guys on here also have several cars, of different genders and ages, this is my "other girlfriend" and it unfortunately ranks above the corsa in my top 2 list!

Local lad? Someone on here now has your old GSi mate. I recognise your modified Corsa B too, I'm sure. Did you used to go to Spillers/TVTE etc?
Also your new B has a local reg and finally for my stalking is that Eighton Banks? lol

Good stuff mate :)

Credit to you, but it only cost me about £20 to hire an engine crane when I did mine, why risk the personal injury?

The white GSI looks nice! :thumb:

I sold the GSi to a guy from Durham, so that's why you will be seeing it about up there. He told me he was going to put a 2.0 in it... did he do that or not? I got a text the next day saying that they blew the gearbox on the way home, but it was a quick little beast so he probably just tried getting top speed out of it. Nice to know it is still knocking around!

Nope I am from Lancaster and it is Bolton-le-Sands beach where the golf photo is taken. It is infact exactly where the big cockle picking disaster was 3 or 4 years ago.

Hiring an engine crane... I am a nightclub manager mate, and don't get much time during the daylight hours, especially this time of year, so I only get time to work on the car at the spur of the moment, so hiring a crane would get very expensive for me as I can't plan ahead far enough to not be lumbered with the crane for longer than I want it for...

It is owned by eastham and is running a LET now iirc, rexy or riggy will be able to confirm this as theyre helping/doing the work on it i think.

B looks pretty good actually bud, engine looks sweet too, had to LoL at the front bumper minus its lower half in the second pic, typical bumpy uk roads + ridiculously low front bumper = crunch im guessing lol

it feels good to see it is still alive, ish!
I sent estham a message with a link to my old pics of the beast!

What engine is in your cab? I've had mine 4-5 years now, its 27 years ol and it survived the drive to magny cours grand prix track in france 2005 with it's original 1.5 single carbed engine... well that's a lie, my clutch cable snapped when I got to the top of the hill on your way into dover, rolled as far as I could and got towed the rest into the ferry port car park. fixed it, got on the next boat, drove off the boat and developed a misfire whilst still driving out of calais ferry port LOL! the worst part was that the head gasket was on its way out and it finally went when I got back to england and was approaching the dartford tunnel. I called it a day and rang the AA at that point!!

Since then I've owned a MK2 gti that was so good I decided to rip the engine out and fit it into my cab LOL

VWs are ace!
