im kinda bored so thought id see what you guys would do.

once iv fixed my techno violet e36 328 cab il be putting it up for sale for a nice profit and replacing it with another car. however im also thinking of selling my e30 cab aswell. i love it and imo it looks ace but people who arnt black just dont understand the car and think its the ****test thing ever made lol. i dont usually care what other think but seen is i can easily make an extra 1k on it i think i should get it sold before i wreck it or something (was originally going to leave it till summer so itl be worth even more, i should do this tbh).

so my question is what car should i buy afterwards? i dont think il get a car that i want more than the e30 for the price it cost so im thinking of selling both together and maybe if i find a car i really like, save up a bit and make it worthwhile.

car doesnt have to practical
must stand out because its either rare or theres not many modded ones out there
fast, or at least big engined
any age, older the better really as i hate new cars
be available in black :roll:

always had a soft spot for old sl500 mercs, but theyre a bit too much yet even tho i would love a merc for my next car. love jap cars but i dont drive fast so not sure if itl be worth getting one, would have to be either a evo 5/6, 2 door scoob or some nice looking skyline but again, dont think jap is really my thing. wouldnt mind an s2k but they look a bit cheap and dated now. could go sensilbe and get an S3 or even save a bit more for a integra type r but iv got my 325i for a comfier more practical car and its only a fraction of the cost and looks just as nice imo.

what would you do?

originally i was going to sell the 328 for a L200 or something similar and then keep the e30 garaged and mint and the longer i keep it the more its worth really.

i forgot to mention that im VERY picky and il basically say no to all of ur suggestions lol

trans am are big and ugly, i liked them when i was 15. they also wont fit down my drive Lol.

not keen on r32s, i wudnt mind a 33 or 34 but theyre still too much really, especially for the ones that would suit me. and like i said, i dont drive fast at all so tuning cars is a no. but i do like having something 300+ if it was standard. aslong as it sounds nice then thatl suit me :)

cossies are still over 10k. i will have one one day but not at the moment. il probs get pee'd off when everyone asks me if its a rep or not.

merc sl's are awesome imo. always been one of my fave cars, i was looking on PH a few weeks ago and you can get some pretty cheap. its not the running costs that will bother me, itl be the cost of the syling bits that il want lol

also looked at them the other week, prices have come down LOADS since i last looked. never been keen on the rebuild cost and would have to be highly kitted up for me to like it, think theyre a bit ugly standard, same with most jap cars tho imo. its one of those cars that if i had the cash on me now and i saw a nice one id buy it, but then probs regret later :wtf:

Buy a white Type R version then lol Twin Turbo import fcuker, most run around 350bhp and you'll get change out of £5k for an average example.

tiger - used to have one, splashed out thousands on fibreglass and retrimmed the interior. but then everytime i showed off all that time and money i got laughed at for not affording my own personal plate :(

i hate the new civics. i forgot to mention that i dont want silly suggestions such as any sort of cupra, astra GSi, breadvan type-r's. like i said, the only newish car that i could even think about would be an s3 or dc5. even them im not really too keen on.

stu - i just this second started to look at the prices of S2 elises. theyre too much so itl have to be an S1. iv never been too sure about them, do people like them or not?

was going to say rx7 then realised its already mentioned. You can get decent ones for less than you have to spend. Just need one thats had a rebuild or very low milage. Or get one cheaper and get the work done/do the work yourself

e36 m3? why would i want to do that Lol? iv got enough e36 and like i say, i dont drive fast so my full m3 rep 325i is just as good as the real thing imo.

im liking the idea of a rex. but i dont know if id like one of them better than my e30 and whatever car i could swap my 328 for. i need something i would want to swap both cars for, something i like as much as a merc sl.

I got a quote for a MK1 S2K and thought I put my age in wrong as it came back as £2.5K even with 8 yrs Ncb, being 26 at the time etc. And the VX was only £600ish lol

All K20 2.0's for the UK/JDM models I'm almost certain mate, I only have interest in mk1's anyway lol

A month or so ago I had seen several on PH (shock) and AT for 5-6.5K, FHSH, 70-90K etc 99-2001 plates, although why anyone would want a 2001 is beyond me lol A mate is after one now and the prices seem to have gone up, but there's still some tidy ones for that kind of money if you look hard enough.

Maybe MK1 S2K's were written off mainly round where I live and owned by people my age lmao... meh Glad I didnt get one now as they are uber cash to run, plus less practical than the vx.

The 5.5K is a repaired cat D and the other has slight bumper damage it says. They're for nowt at that sort of money IMO.

Aye Stuart I've seen a good few mk1's in the scrapyards, I'm not sure but when they revised it (mk2?) it was given a 40% stiffer chassis and a couple other tweaks to make it less of a killing machine IIRC lol

Same power from all mk's AFAIK mate. Apart from the above (and probably a lot more) All I'm aware of is cosmetic exterior stuff, lights, wheels, bumpers etc.

*edit I think the 2.2 only came in the ATR and the Prelude (lower power)

get a MK4 1.6 8V astra and make it look "pretty" then lol... atleast it saves you spunking a truck of cash on insurance (that "isnt a problem"... define that please), fuel etc on a perf car that might wind up killing you blah blah boring boring

by performance i meant that a car which does 0-60 in quicker than 5 secs is pointless for me as i dont drive fast enough to use it to its full potential. i like a car which is capable of decent performance which will 'beat' the average car. for example i am perfectly happy with the 325 i have even tho theyre no were near the quickest things around.

basically i would rather have a really nice looking car which is a similar speed than a 2.0ltr nova, than having a standard looking car that are as quick as evos. but i dont want to bling out a 1.6 astra lol.

and on my trade insurance im allowed to drive what i want...

stoo, sounds like a s2k would suit me tbh. before i made this thread i had an SL, S2K and a few others in mind. looks like there isnt going to be anything else that i havnt thought of.

overheating lol

maybe it is the gasket, but hopefully its not. it overheated once so i took it home and found a leak. iv fixed that and it isnt leaking from there anymore. however whilst trying to bleed the system it just doesnt want to, it keeps bubbling like a bitch. once im stood still doing this, for say 40mins the temp doesnt rise but then i go for a drive and 10miles later itl shoot to red and then go back down and randomly go up and down. it then starts to boil like a bitch.

is there any way i can find out for definate what it is without taking the head off? as i dont really fancy doing that as its not as easy as a bloody 8v vaux :(
