I finally got a chance to get some decent pics of the Volvo 360 I bought a few weeks back (Cheers Mark) Thought I'd stick it up on here for those that want to see it and seeing as it will be on on going and more importantly road going project this seems the right section.

I bought the car from a local second hand dealers for £400 three weeks ago with the intention of having a laugh over the winter and getting into the tramp drift scene. It is a 2.0 carb one owner OAP special, 100% standard/original. 59K miles and barely any rust at all given that it is 25y/o in February. It came with the original FM radio/cassette (optional lol) and some fly 6.5" speakers in enclosures under the front seats - stealth build ftw, 12 months MOT and I supplied 6 months tax. It is supposed to have 110bhp IIRC and it isn't slow given it's age/size. More than enough to have some fun in the dry :)

To my knowedge it has not been on the road since 1992. The sirname on the V5 is the same as the dealers, so maybe the BS about it being his uncles is true lol.

So far I have given it new HT leads/plugs/air filter/fuel filter/dizzy cap/rotor arm and oil/filter. It also required a new mechanical fuel pump as the old one was gutless and fcuked me over more than once lol. I have also stripped and cleaned the carb as it wasn't running well at all. Bled the brakes yesterday and managed to snap a bleed nipple :tard: Also now for some reason the fronts are sticking on! The calipers 'seem' fine as do the pads/discs and rear drums/shoes but I guess they may need refurbishing.

Typical after I missed a pair of NOS calipers on eBay for a fiver each!

Anyway, brief future plans then a few pics.

3" drop all round using mk2 Escort lowering blocks and 'maybe' cut the front coils - unlikely tbh. 13x7 minilites or Wellers in black. Carb set up would be nice too lol. Along with the most important part, a MiG spec diff lol :D and a few other bits and pieces.

Not going too OTT with it, I've been told I got a bargain, should maybe be £8/900+ as it would be nice for it to appreciate in value, and if I keep on top of it and do nothing irreversible then it should be fine.

Big thanks to Steve for helping me with all of the above and also Mark, Conor, Adam and Martin - must be nice to everyone Lol

I just need some rims and a decent ride height ASAP lol

I'd cry if I had to pay 16 years worth of back dated tax! Lol

lol they look much better when they've been dropped, as with most things!

No two things improve a car more (looks wise) than ride height and rim choice IMO.

Cheers dude :)

get some revos for it and slam it.

i do really like these cars for a bit of drifting.

L14MNP
13-12-08, 10:00 PM
Slamming part I agree with, but dunno about the Revos lol. Wellers are more my price for this thing. There's a cool 2.3 turbo tramper on the bay ATM with Revo's. Cheque book racer :( lol

^ Lovely! I'm already waiting for some smart **** to ask if I'm trying to double the value when I fill the tank lol Imagine forking out for that back tax!

Looks like I'm getting some lowering blocks for 15 quid on Monday from a local lad, unused in box. I think they are 2" but have my fingers crossed for 3" lol
I know if I use the bay I can find some maybe a fiver cheaper posted but I CBA with being dicked about etc.
I worry that things may break when I pull it apart to lower lol

L14MNP
13-12-08, 11:07 PM
Cheers Adam. The 740? 2.0 turbo motor is the one to go for, 180/200bhp standard. Wonder how much a 440 turbo motor could be had for though lol...

Aye Baz, a lad on another site said the pipes may have collapsed, never known that before. Yeah they slide fine mate. Will I be able to see/feel the problems in the pipes or will the outside 'wall' stop me from knowing?

Semi (ish) 'update'

I am one step closer to getting my hands on the 2 quid wheels I won on eBay - two 99p wins lol A mate collected them yesterday for me, and he's back up here in three weeks. The fronts are as expected. 13x7 Wellers in Mini PCD and the rears are different I guess is a word you could use. They appear to be banded mk1/2 Escort or Transit? steels lol. As the eBay listing was by a retard I thought i'll take my chances and hopefully have a matching set seeing as they came from the same car - turns out the Mini that they came from had a Ford rear axle lol

If the surface of the wheel was smooth I would redrill the PCD but it doesn't seem to be an option, shame. they could have looked cool? They will sell on eBay etc with scene tax to the kids I guess. So now on the lookout for 2 more Wellers, preferably 8J and deeper.

When I do get sorted i want to see if I can fit the beauty rims to them somehow (weld?) - this may look verrrry ghey lol and paint them black

Here's a couple of crap pics:

More parts for the pile.A 3 spoke 3" dished steering wheel, it's 50 quid new from RallyDesign so maybe worth what I paid. If I don't like it/can't get a boss to fit etc. Then I can probably sell it on for what I paid. Comes with a mk1/2 Fiesta boss too but will probably give that to my mate.
Pockets aren't deep enough for a proper OMP job ATM, but If I bin the centre for a home made Lolvo one or something it will be OK I guess.

L14MNP
04-02-09, 03:20 PM
Nowt special mate. I'm tired of blowing money on cars lol. Still gotta see this Nissan project through as well yet :( Cheep n cheerful is the name of the game here. Plans are:
Fit steering wheel
Locate two more RWD offset Wellers
2" Drop with lowering blocks and springs
Weld diff - summer job (replace gear and diff oil/clutch at same time)
Fly off handbrake
Maybe a badgeless grille
Will also get a bolt on turbo if I can find the appropriate donor
If/when I get the unit I have my eye on then it will come off the road for a cage/stripped buckets etc. but if not then probably just keep the standard interior as it's my daily ATM lol
Oh, and try and keep it in good nick so I can have it for a few years or sell it and break even/make a profit possibly lol

Cheers dude

liam, go buy this months ppc mag from tescos or whsmiths. its got a 2.3 16v turbo lump stuffed up one of these. btw, escort mk2 lowering blocks fit straight on to 'em! i have a small bit of engine knowledge on these....

04-02-09, 03:59 PM
GTF with your sunroofs lol. I never have cars with sunroofs if I can help it. Esp. aftermarket leaky jobs if that's what it is? If not my mate would probs have it for his mk1 Fiesta man. :) Aye its mk2 blocks I'm getting mate :thumb:
Just saw that PPC feature, someone scanned it for me on another forum. ROFL @ the guys 12 door 'standard looking' Porsche bater with the biggest FMIC outside of a Scania garage.

If you have engine knowledge on my motor (B19e) you will know more than most of the pipe and slippers forum do about it lol. All I know/care is it has a very low C/R :D

Just bagged some brand new 2" alu lowering blocks on the bay for 11.50 posted. Says they come with fixings, but seeing as the guy has an Anglia they'll be no good lol. I have plenty of high tensile bolts kicking around so all is well.

There's some confusion over what wheel fits what boss etc with them being ancient, got this one (NOS) from a local lad on the oap forum for a very good price though!
Very hard to acquire now. Could use a Pug 205 one but I prefer this as it means I can have self cancelling indicators and me horn will work - bonus.

If it isn't a direct fit I'm hoping I can redrill the boss or maybe use an adaptor.
