Hi i think my gearbox may be knackered:( on the way home tonight i set off and gave it some beans and went to change into second and it then popped out of second and started crunching(has popped out of gear a few times at rwyb etc).anyway i set off but there is an awful clanking sound from the gearbox and it wont drive in second i pulled up at home and it seems to stop when i put my clutch in but it may just be coinsidence?

is it new gearbox time?lol

If its got the inspection plate whip it off and see if there is anything obvious. I would go for funked 2nd gear. What box is it?

its just as easy to pull the whole cassette out and inspect the gears.its only about 12 bolts and its very unlilkely the casings will be damaged, the diff is probably ok as long as you havent driven it too long. its pretty obvious something has died inside. but doing this is far easier than removing the whole box.

Hi, if you get stuck i used to work for a gearbox specelist in hull. He should be able to sort out the problem if you cant. Its called Wallis engineering and can be contacted on 01482 321666 and ask for mike.
