On my e16 engine loom i have a plug with the following wires

Thick Red - LIVE
Green - REV COUNTER
Black - SWITCHED LIVE
Blue - TEMP GAUGE sender
[edit} I'd got to a scrappy & scavenge the male & females halves of a 5 or 6 pin loom plug & solder each end to your loom & car loom so you get a removeable loom.
That's a good idea, I crimped on terminals on both sides to make the loom removable.
Shouldn't there be a fuel pump wire on the loom also?
^ yes IIRC, blue with red trace if my memory serves me correct.

Ok thanks
I've ordered some correct coloured wire and a 6way weatherproof connector so i can connect it all up and remove it if i need too
What do i do about the red/blue fuel pump wire? I have it on the car loom do i just splice it into the engine loom
Yeah I think you just connect the fuel pump +ve directly to the engine loom. For some reason I put a fuse in mine, but it's probably not required?!
If you wire the pump directly yourself then yeah you should fuse it.
I spliced into the fuel pump wire at the fusebox on mine, so the original wiring/fuse remains in use....
I've just run out to check mine for you. The multiplug has the 4 wires with colours the same as yours, however the blue wire is wired to the fuel pump.
Blue? Mines fused aswell, nice easy immobiliser TBH.

Right so the blue is for the fuel pump then and not the temp sender?
What i have is the blue/red wire direct from the fuse box as below

Should this go to the blue?

Good news, i managed to sort out the wiring over the weekend.
The car turns on the key, the fuel pump fires up and there is a spark so it should be running fairly soon.
Have another question.. does the blue temp wire go to the back of the inlet manifold?
