Hi there, I've been tempted with this idea for a while, but I've not quite persuaded myself as of yet.

At the moment, I have a Stripped out 106 XSi (Yes, I know boo) with a GTi 16v engine. Now I love the pace of this thing, it's a quick wee bastid and easily capable of keeping up with my mates Corsa XE. But back to the idea, I've wanted a Nova on carbs for so long now lol My question is, how reliable will one be? From an SR on carbs, to a 2.0 8v, would it be ok for a daily drive? As I drive my XSi about 400-500 miles per week and it's surprisingly faultless!

It won't allow me to post a pic as of yet :(

And finally, would anyone with a Nova on Carbs want to swap?:tard: lol

You need 15 posts before you can post pics. A carbed Nova should be fine as a daily driver, if a little juicey! Welcome to png by the way!

hmmm for a daily drive thats a big of a giggle and not tooooo thirsty, with lots of scope for the future.

1.6 8V with a kent AST2 cam and T40's should see a nice 110-120bhp from that, and atleast 30-35mpg on a gentle run. Then add a worked head + bottom end fiddling to get more out of it later. Bomb proof reliability

I've never had the urge to troll websites mate so I won't be spamming  A 1.6 8v was what I was looking for actually. From the XSi, I'm getting 35-40mpg just now and that's with 120bhp. I'm more than happy to sacrafice some mpg for the noise

Id just keep with the XSi TBH. You'll ring 180bhp+ out a GTi engine for what it costs to DIY an XE Nova.

Thanks Mike, but I wouldn't be looking for an XE'd Nova anyway. I had an XE Corsa and it was fun, but I want 8v carb power this time!
