im pretty sure a 1.6 8v from a cav is a big block engine
that means its the same work as installing a 2l 8v/16v as far as the gearbox and tranny goes and infact the rest of the engine - i think te be realistic i would have to advise against using a 1.6 bigblock
for the work u may as well fit the 2L which will be much better
Ok cheers m8, thanx for the reply, im sure they are the big block as well!
Thanx again!

I don't know if it is a big block, I think it depends on the year because didn't vauxhall start putting 1.6 small blocks in the Astra and Cav. My brother had an 1.6 big block astra(C reg) and the next one was a small block(G reg). It might be the same for the cav.

i think they only changed it to small block when iot went to injection, the astra c16sv engine is small block carb but not worth the hassle you would be better off getting a 1.4 nova engine!

My brother's is carb, it's a G reg. I know it's a small block because it's got an F13 gearbox on it.
Matt
it will be the c16sv then, similar power output to the nova sri engine so as u can see not really worth it for a 1.6!
Thanx 4 the feedback lads, im just a bit confused as to wot to do to the car engine wise!
cheers!
