Gearboxes for 1.2

Please someone explain what each gearbox is for and the differences.

i have a 1.2 diamond 5-speed and the gearbox is $%^& so i need to know what one i need to replace it.

what gearbox does a 1.2 diamond 5 -speed have?

How old? Mk1/Mk2?

I think you'll be after a F10/5 but I'm not too sure

f10/5 same as fitted in mk1 sr

hrm..

i thaught the SR's had larger flywheels and hence different gearboxes to the F10/5 from the 1.2

i wish someon would confirm all this properly cos it gets a bit mind boggling

My understanding is this.

1.0 & 1.2 use F10/4or5
1.4 use F13/W
1.4 SR's& SRi's and 1.6 use F13/CR

I'd guess that 1.3's use F13 as well as the 1.5TD

I'd also like to know for sure, as this has come up before.

yup there is only 2 different sized flywheels, all except sri/gte/gsi/td have the smaller size

Funny this, I was about to post a query about 'boxes - I had a standard 1200 with 5 speed gearbox, 84 model and needed a new box.

Bought one which was from a 1400 SR - it all bolts up the same but I had to remove the roller bearings in the end of the crankshaft and make up a brass bush for the input shaft on the box to fit, as it is of a larger diameter than the 1200 one. Have had no problems with this box in 10000 miles apart from having to make the bush up.

Does anybody know what the difference between the F10 and F13, strengthwise. I know the ratios are different. My box is a close ratio and the car is great in 3rd and 4th now, but it's revving at motorway speeds compared to the old F10. I suspect the F10s are a bit weak?

Any way of getting an F13 with the old F10 cruising ratios?

Nope 1.4SR's have F10 5 speed, I know I have one in my garage still on the engine.

well my sr had a f10 CR 5 speed box on it
the box is on the 1.2 at the moment and its loving it :)
