Basically the steering effect is 'amplified' and many of the quick racks aoffer a lock to lock of 2.2 turns which is obviously a lot less than standard. Only negative thing I can think of that when moving slowly, parking for example, the steering is heavier than standrd and is a little harder to turn the wheel.

Fitting is straightforward if a little fiddly, most awkward part is physically removing the old rack and getting the new one in, if the engine is still in. If you've got a haynes follow the procedures in there for removing the steering rack. May aswell buy two new track rods ends and renew those whilst you're at it too.

Its a good modification to do, even better if twinned with Corsa EPAS (power steering).

Buy a rack from a Corsa B with electronic power steering, its a 2.7 turn lock-to-lock manual rack (the power assist is on the column) and they are just under £60 for a refurbed unit.. I'm running one on my B :)

Just need to fit the Nova rack ends.

if the corsa has a wider track than a nova, would this not mean some pretty crazy toe-in?

No Meritlover, you either need to swap the Nova's track rods onto the Corsa rack, or adjust the toe in as usual if the threads allow it.
