1.4i vauxhall nova saloon

Hey all, bout time i started a project thread,

so here goes,

its a 1.4i flame red nova loon, 4 door,

95k on the clock

so far i done the following,

Debadged
painted bumpers black
treated what rust there was (still got rear arches to do tho)
had to flush the radiator as it was full of gunk and sh*te ,

someone thought it would be highly hilarious to nick my indecator lenses and bulbs, so i went to halfrauds and the only ones they had were beamer ones, so screw it,

has beamer e30 smoked repeaters,

have made the rear tailgate clean, filled and sprayed those holes where the plastic thing is held in,

am thinking of going against everyone who dont like wide arches, and gonna do it anyways, get a custom zaust made up, and have a wide rear, with a subtle cav or calibra wing on the rear,

most of you probs think itll look cr*p but hey, my car... if i dont like it, il change it,

oh,. the tailgate looks a bit rough as it was a rushed job, it will be sanded and painted properly after xmas, or if i can get it turned round so i can get some heat around it,

oh, further plans,

lower 60-80mm all round
5 spoke offset wheels, to fill the wide arches
cav or calibra spoiler,
new exhaust such as a big bore or janspeed or summit,

what ya think?

For some reason I love 4 door saloons! Id love a grey 4 door loon, 1200 or 1300 carb, lowered 60mm on SR alloys.

Get some Farcela G3 compound and the lend of a polisher, t-cut won't do much for that faded paint.

yep, lol mine only had 30k odd miles, one lady owner, lol , then my dad used it for 2 years as his runabout, so it now on 90k...

still runs perfect tho, although think i gotta replace rocker cover gasket

i think 79L is the paint code for flame red so check the left hand plate under the bonnet.

i have a set of astra gte alloy wheels in silver but with no centre cap.They have avon tyres but think 1 has a slow puncture.£40 collected from swindon wilts sound ok.

the clio wheels are the same stud patern but the wrong ofset but should fit under you loon arches.You mite go through alot of wheel baerings tho.

gotta put a wire from the coil to the green on the digi, so il have a working rev counter, and splice the speedo wire to the g/box so il have a speedo,

should be ok after that,

gotta replace a few fuses too, as i blew a couple, lol

and i may ave to re wire a bit of it as the lights such as headlight symbols not lighting up,

but hey, good fun ;)

got a cobra alarm system and central locking kit to go in next!

Well, its been a while since i updated... and there really isnt much to update with lol

ive stripped the rear drums down, replaced the shoes, adjusted the handbrake, and built it all back up,

im currently waiting for a web design job to pay so i can get what welding needs doing, and get the new arch

now have the smoked rear lights back on it, as i sold the frosted ones, didnt like them really,

also in my spare time ive been refurbing my SR 3 spoke alloys, which hopefully will be going to someone on here soon :)

will get pic up soon tho!

rear tailgate was painted, then i decided it looked stupid so i put that black slat thing back on, lol

once the welding is done, im hoping to strip it, and get it all primer'd up ready to go to the local bodyshop to be resprayed diamond black,...

hey guys,

after a lot of thinking, and alot of people convincing me,

the insurance on the saloon is 1500 for the first year, which tbh, i cant afford,

so.. what do i do, the saloon is being forgotten about for while, its going to be stored for a while,

in the meentime, ive got another nova, really cheap, doesnt really need any work except a little threateninng from a welder,

it doesnt have any mot, but does have a bit of tax, so its not been off the road that long,

im going to put alloys on it, lower it and basiclly tidy it up and use it as a runabout until i can afford the saloon, however, in the time the saloon is stored, it will be stripped and have all the rust treated/cut out and new panels put on, then once all the work is done it will be resprayed.

i think it will be better in the long run as i dont want to write off the saloon, id rather smash the hatch up,

and it saves rushing the saloon for when i pass,

if anyone can come up with 200 notes, its a good project, a few patches of welding need doing, but overall it aint too bad, but i need another car so as soon as i pass i can get straight in insure and go,

thanks to pirrip for a wickid price on them, and UPS for delivering them next day when i paid for 48 hr delivery, lol,

its booked in to have all the welding it needs done for a fortnights time so i have chance to get the cash together,

need idea's on colours tho lads, im liking the red/black scheme ive got going, but tbh, every red car ive seen fades like hell over time, so looking for summat different,

any suggestions/photoshops welcome :thumb:

i'd keep it red as its a paint in the ass to completely change the coulor of the car, and i do belive t-cut will be your friend lol

as when them new arches go in, il have 2 black arches, the drivers side wing, i buggered up from when i removed the ariel, as i did with the bonnet...

the doors will need painting as the bottoms are being welded up til i can afford some new ones,...

also, little update... as some of you know, living in a little village, you get bored... like so...

i remember buying a complete engine FIA gasket rebuild kit, (all gaskets for engine when rebuilding)

and a ASTRA GTE steering wheel,

and a set of chrome bonnet ram things? lol

and a new taxdisk holder clearly stating, "Yes ive paid my tax. now go and fix some fking potholes..." loool,

pics soon also, hopefully if tom gets hold of me, il have some nice multispoke chavvy wheels to go on as im bored of the retro looks the fanblades give... lol

an some others lol, now jus need to have a look at the injector, as the ICV keeps getting stuck, and its pi$$ing me off... llol

hmm, yer deffo get the pix up mate...

its going for some welding on monday, all the rear end is being sorted, i.e, both rear quaters being replaced. and some work on one sill, exhaust going on, and front doors being tacked til i can buy some new ones,...

so il have lots of time to get parts for its return, and its going straight in for the mot soon as the welding is done, then blow over in flame red,

my wallet is gonna hate me,... lol

im really happy with it at the moment, got basshunter going, chattin to the bird, an jus seeing it come together really does feel like a big achievement...

running real short on cash now tho, got me dog food paid for, an have just enough to pay for the welding on monday :) an forgot it had no petrol, so had to wack a tenner in it,

HOPEFULLY il be at pv next year with it, and im wondering what itll look like then, lol,

arch is near enough done, just need to do a bit more filling, then sand that off, smooth it out then primer it.

Ive ordered a new passenger side door. just need to find a drivers side now.
