K Just Cos Had A Quick Look On Internet And Could Only See 1.8 8v On Astra Gte
Only came with the 1.8 8v (early gte) and the 2.016v (lateer gtes)
Thats mk2 Astra gtes.

i doubt a 1.8 will be a lot different to a 2.0 to insure.
It can be a 1.8 8v or 2.0 8v, its not going to be a 1.6 if its from a mk2 gte. Meaning it will be a big block engine. Same as putting a 2ltr 16v in meaning custom mount, gearbox spacer and bigblock inner cv's

if i do need the conversion bits what do i need to get? just can have engine for free and can get it fitted for cheap too
You will find all the info you need if you use the search look in mechanical forum.
Quick rundown
Astra gte engine loom will be used, you will have to cut/join the wires to the nova incar loom.
Mount wise, you will need a custom drivers front engine mount (ebay/chrisatley) and a gearbox spacer kit.
Driveshafts the easiest/cheaper way is nova gte driveshafts that have 22splines on the inside joint. Thats not the actual cv joint, its 22 splines on the shaft itself can only count without the cv joint fitted. You then use 1600 mk2 cavalier inner cv joints as these fit the 22spline nova shafts.
Otherwise you can get custom bigger shafts that use big block cv joints, however this means you need bigger front hubs pressed in. Again you can get all this off ebay/chrisastley motorsport.
What ever you choose will be usable again later on if you decided to get a 16v redtop engine or even turbo lump.
Best thing to do is have a read through mechanical as you will e able to pick up all the info you need in there.

how much ya sellin everythin for like and how far from newcastle are ya.
inc engine box loom good clutch mpi pump and fitted will be around 80 pounds and he as asked for a few stella too lol so cheap enough
Yes it would be ALOT easier putting a 1600 in from a gte or corsa. But then later on you will get bored of the power and want a redtop. So may as well go half the full way now with a big block. :p
Only problem is adding up the cost of better brakes, suspension. Standard supsension or -60mm gmax springs will NOT handle well. Ive got them on the corsa and tbh it feels dangerous with the extra weight. Handled bad enough with the 1.4

Ahh now i have seen the five door GTE`s didnt know they were a 1.8 though, surely it would just be pretty much an SRi/SXi then, (mind you are the 1.8 GTE`s the ones pre-digi dash then?
Yeah was just a kited up sxi really.
In which case i have come across them as such just didnt realise what they were lol
Would have looked just like a gte, but with no front fogs.
Not sure if they had digi dashes or not tho..
Yeah i think theyre the pre-digi ones with analogue dials.
Its mint the stuff you can learn from on here:thumb:
You could have the analogue dials as a dealer op on all gtes too.
