I asked for an agreed valuation when I took out my insurance.

They have come back and given me an offer of £1750.

Is that about right?

I could buy another for about that amount but could not build one for that...

they wont go off build price, just what its worth at selling time. i dont know about this, but maybe you can contest and ask for more? after all it is supposed to be an agreed valuation

correct thats why some of the high priced turbo builds (£5k+) only have a payout of £3k ish lol

I guess, might just accept but just seemed a touch low.

Or go back to the insurance company and maybe negotiate a price? TBH though £1750 is not a bad price. Is that after you have paid your excess?

I sent detailed photos of my build, and stated the cost to get it to the standard and Finally got an agreed value of 9k.

If you feel it's worth more then ask for more.

What insurance companies are you guys using in order to get these agreed valuations?

£1750 is more then any average insurer will give you. As soon as you say Nova its generally a few hundred quid at best. But if its worth more tell em so. If you got proof of your spend etc the better. Anything to back up your point is good.

I'm pretty sure companies such as Adrian Flux, HIC etc will do agreed valuations. Not sure about PNG's newest addition, Sky insurance.

Adrian flux etc will do agreed value... however you have a fair bit to go through to get a good agreed price! I have mine agreed at 7k. They did offer 6k to begin with but after sending them plenty of detailed pics and info I got what I wanted in the end. Im sure Joff had similar problems Iirc.

That cant be anywhere near the actual build cost though, and the care/attention/passion in your build is priceless imo:thumb:

When I insured mine with HIC they just asked what all the parts cost and said they will do 'like for like' with the values I gave them. No photo's or anything....

Hmm, I'm almost certain they offered me one when I took out a policy on the Celica. I could be confusing them with HIC though.

I had a agreed value of £14k on my turbo. No hassle once they had seen the pics and the spec of it.
