Rar is an archive format. Try extracting the files out of it using Winzip/Winrar/7zip/etc and adding the extracted files to the media player.

If you can't tell us what your trying to play then it will be very hard to workout what your doing wrong.

I reccomend a Mac-in-toss for a future computer purchase. They make things like this very easy.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/webhelp/default.aspx?&mpver=11.0.6001.7000&id=C00D1199&contextid=83&originalid=80040218

Go to http://www.winrar.com

Download the free version and use it to extract the music files from the .rar. Without teaching you how to suck eggs, a .rar file is an archive format, a way of storing lots of files in one single package. In this case to make downloading easier.

if its not unzipped, unzip it, if it still wont work, download a thing called

k-lite codec pack,

should sort it :)

You just compressed it into a rar archive.

On the original file, if you still have it, right-click, go to properties and tell us what the top two things are under the general tab - File type and Opens with.

LOL @ you lot going off on a tangent!

They're just normal .mp3 files according to the torrent information, try a different media player.

On the original file, if you still have it, right-click, go to properties and tell us what the top two things are under the general tab - File type and Opens with.its in "documents",under "azureus downloads"
properties says:

type: file folder

location:c:/users/twistysfamily/documents/azureus downloads

size: 4.24 GB

size on disk: 4.24 GB

contains: 374 files, 0 folders

brainsnova,i always check the comments and scan the files.

Ok, so its a folder - whats in it? They all MP3s?

twistysnovagte
05-12-08, 05:40 PM
yes there all MP3s,since you mention properties, ive just gone into the properties of a couple of the tracks in the download and it comes up with

under file this is:
length: 00:00:confused:
bit rate -
everything else just has a dash at the side same as bit rate^^^

also says:this file is missing media usage rights:confused: (in properties of the track)

edit:ive just finnished installing the latest k-lite codec package that says it will play 99.9% of audio downloads, and what a complete FAIL!

The files are currupt or you haven't finished downloading the torrent yet.
Or possibly your computer is running 3 value binary on that file. It's either that or the file has a fuzzy bomb attached to it.

Ah yes, that would make sense. The three value binary would equate to the CPU calculating the octal length of the MPEG Layer 3 file as 00 due to the insufficient virtual memory on the temporary disc partition, given the R/W speed of 30ms.

By the sounds of this it has been compressed on a Mac, so if you uncompress it with winzip it should give you a folder. Then try downloading itunes and dropping the folder into this.

Whoever made it may have split the files already, so all the tunes will be named.

By the sounds of this it has been compressed on a Mac

Why?

Dar
05-12-08, 07:51 PM
Maybe compressed by a pac-a-mac?

Southie

Why?

Had downloads which don't always work on pc's, but were recognised straight away on a mac as soon as they were put in itunes.

Why ask why?

Just curious to see your reasoning, nothing wrong with asking questions is there?
