does anyone know what cams would give my c20xe power from midrange to topend, and increase torque to a rally style type sound.
i already have this sound through my exhaust but just want a bit more power with it and increase it.
thanks james

no offence matey, but unless you spend quite a decent wedge your wasting your time. mid/top want something like bp270 or up to 288 cams, then above that need solids. then starts getting dear! if want a rally sound, go out and buy a cheap 2nd hand rally car thats all ready done.

or build a decent spec n/a motor, headwork, cam/s, tb's. carbs etc

no offence taken, i understand your point of view, the sound of car is half way that to what a rally car sounds like and just want a bit more torque out of it increasing the pitch of the engine/exhaust.

bear in mind that with standard pistons, head, inlet and management you wont be able to fit much more than a 270deg spec cam.... which is BARELY better than standard.

for a rally sound (I'm guessing you mean like an impreza) then simply have an exhaust manifold made with 2 primaries 12" longer than the other two so its sounds lumpy and funked.

or buy a group n ashley manifold/system, and see how it goes.

without actually spending a decent wedge on the engine, your car wont sound like a rally car

rally cars are mostly high tuned engines...

i have 280deg schrick cams, chipped ecu, lightend flywheel and stainless steel 60mm exhaust, and it doesnt sound like a rallycar.
it sounds great, sounds powerful, but nowhere nere a full spec rally car.

Do you want to increase the induction roar?

Throttle bodies or carbs give the xe a very aggressive tone. Theres nothing else that'll give you that. My friend has a mk2 escort with a JRE engine on 48's. You can hear that from miles away. Thats alot of monies worth though

yeh i was thinkin that. because their is one part of the engine just cant think of it that if lengthened will increase torque.
how much would i pay for a set of twin 45's??? on average??

the thick end of £500 + setup (and if you dont get them setup then you will bitch about carbs being crap....)

still haven't a clue who 'StuZetec16v' is, but he musta saved a vid that i uploaded of my white nova on throttlebodies when i removed the heaters, and left the hole open from engine bay, to cabin, without a airfilter on :D so the camera was only inches from the microphone!

sounds lurrrvely

As stated, it's not cheap. I spent ages looking around for my setup for the right kind of money. You can buy a dblias throttle body setup. I got offered one for £500. I brought a set of 45 DCOE's, webcon mappable ECU which came with top end loom, TPS, air temp sensor and uses the xe cranks sensor. Also bought an SBD inlet manifold. I got the whole setup for just over £500 but it took alot of hunting. There's an SBD 208 throttle body kit for sale on here. Thats the kind of setup you want.
