Hi all,

being a modified car nut for a few years, I thought I'd share some pictures of my current car. I have two car obsessions, Mk1 Toyota MR2s and Fiat Uno Turbos (dont ask!)

Here she is:

The MR2 started out as a UK spec Mk1 (b).
In 2006 it had an engine transplant from a 1992 Mr2 turbo, this was carried out by a company called Woodsport who specialise in all things MR2. The old (4AGE) engine produced 122BHP, the new (3SGTE) engine produces 220BHP standard and with a few tweeks now puts out over 250BHP. Obviously with the extra power, the MR2 needs a few supporting modifications, I have now added a full suspension set up with polybushes and also larager front brakes taken from a Celica. You'd be amazed at how many parts are transferrable from different Toyota models!
In 2007 the Mr2 underwent a full body restoration including a custom wide arch kit for the rear arches and respray in the original Toyota gunmetal grey.
My Mr2 is 'work in progress' and will be undergoing a few more changes in the future.
I hope you like! Comments/feedback welcome...

cheers.. I'm not keen on the exhaust either.. it was cheap stop-gap to get me through.. 2 years later it is still there  Although it doesn't look it, it is actually restricting the flow.. the system is two and a quarter inches and ideally (for a turbo system) needs to be 3"

Engine bay pic but this is from when I boguht the car. Note the inter'warmer' which suffers from bad headsoak so a lot of the initial power is lost after you've had it on boost a couple of times.. Next on the list is a Celica GT4 ST205 charge cooler which will eliminate this problem.

My MR2 recently ran a 13.3 second quarter mile at Santa Pod and that was on the first run of the day with a dodgy start and stupid gear change before the finish line.. on the very next run I snapped the driveshaft!!

I love the mk1 mr2's, have done for years.
The company that did this conversion (Woodsport) was started years ago purely doing this engine conversion. The guy who runs it, Paul Woods, was the first guy in the uk to do this transplant and when he found he was onto something he set up woodsport. They do some good work.
They do another conversion for the MR2 using the toyaota camry 3.0ltr v6 as well, which i would really have to consider if i was looking for a track day car. Get that on some throttle boddies and it would sound amazing and shift like a scalded cat.
If you google 'paul woods mr2 turbo' the guy has put his whole build diary on the mr2 owners club site so if you fancy it you can have a go yourself.:thumb:

Disclaimer: Obviously you need more than just a build diary to pull it off!

Yes fella, they want my car for a feature at somepoint but I want to get my other MR2 restored first (completely standard 1985 model) and get them done together :thumb:

Two of my mates had these for a Nurbergring trip, a White N/A version that was stripped out on triple 8 tyres and a red supercharger with a Fenn sport pulley kit. Both cars were amazing on the road

I've had three Mk1 Superchargers, and yes, once you've got the pulley kit done they are fantastic, around 170-190BHP. Completely different to drive compared to my turbo but still massive fun. Here's a quick pic of one of my old 'chargers:

The Mk1 Mr2 community is pretty small so I probably know your mates.
