Feck off Rich i do not live in the bronx and you know it, to say im annoyed is an understatement, although my price last year was £790 fire and theft on my SRi cav so its £300 cheaper but still shocking when you consider at 24 i was fully comp with HIC driving a 1.2 nova with engine mods, interior mods, coilovers and alloys and a full exhaust system, plus dvd ps2 and full ice install, all declared, for less than £400!
At 24 I was paying £500 for a 240bhp GT4 lol
Prices have gone up. Plus your postcode is akin to Guantanamo Bay lol

Kind of put out by sky this time round, had quotes from compare the market coming in on my astra at £460 from tesco iirc, and £480 from privilege both fully comp, sky, £490 fire and theft, wont cover me FC as the astra is worth less than £2k, and found another carrier who quoted me £850 FC, seriously guys why is my insurance so high, im 30 next month!!
PM'd you :thumb:
Right, i need to upgrade my insurance policy slightly with sky as my new job requires me to be able to drive between differnt places of work for my job and carry equipment in my car and passengers ( lift sharing) to differnt settings. Is this gonna cost becasue its not like a major change?
Pm replied Ollie:thumb:
You might find it will Manda as its more than just commuting, as carrying people/equipment to various places is using your vehicle for work related purposes and would probably looked at as business use, and the more your car is on the road during peak times, the more likely it is to be involved in a shunt/claim, this is why if you have a car you wont be using for work (second car for example) removing the 'commuting' option from your cover vastly drops the price in most cases!

Humm, got the Astra's renewal through, £90 more then last year!
Spoke to one of your guys this morning he's drooped it so it's now only £10 more then last year, though I'm getting online quotes i need to follow up, as i might save another £90 on your original quote.
What i don't understand is, if a simple call can drop it by £80 where was that money going to if you can cut it off just like that??
No wonder they called that online site confused.com!
I just got told its a waste of time having my car insured fully comp. I dont think so mate, its my car ill insure it how i want!

Hi,
as a broker we can only go back to our underwriters and ask them to adjust prices if a more competitive quotation comes to light, we search our own panel at renewal stage but it is a cut throat industry and other insurers will undercut our renewal rates, we have the price match service (where possible) to retain customers. It is always worth talking to our renewals team to see if there are any change of circumstances which can lower the price.
Feel free to PM me if you neerd assistance.
Thanks

We'd only really advise this if the car has a low value, the reason being that even the slightest bit of damage would result in the car being written off, you'll be paying a higher premium as well as having to pay an excess in the event of a fault claim, fair enough it's your decision but this is our advice.
With regards to your mother's claim, please PM me the details and I will look into it straight away.

no
however they do mirror NCD, well at least they did for me...!

No, we've had a very successful multi car scheme for some time now however it doesn't suit every customer, this particular scheme is suited for high value cars. We find that the mirrored NCB tool works for most.

You need to be very careful with this sort of cover, we'll insure you on the basis pof the information you provide to us but you need to back this information up if you have a claim, the main issue being proof of trading. A lot of people seems to think trade policies can be used for getting cheap insurance on your own cars, great for being insured 'on paper' not so good when you come to claim

Just touching on the address change, we use our own area ratings, there is no set area rating which all insurers use. I can say that your previous address was about as low risk as it gets, whilst your new area is still fairly low risk, it has incurred a premium increase unfortunately.

Good stuff, we (like most insurers) take a lot of stick about renewal prices so it is nice to see some compliments!
First time I've had a renewal price from you to be fair, but all of my previous have been massively inflated for all of the idiots that just let it run over without checking it, so you then go through the hassle of phoning someone else for a quote, phone your own insurer and they then realise they can actually do it for eleventy thousands pounds less and accidently forgot about this 500% margin when they calculated the renewal lol
So I was pleased to get a genuine competitive quote :)

Called Sky back up and got a cracking deal from Alex, which came in about £400-£500 lower than i was getting quoted on average, all in £992 for my CTR, all declared.
Happy Chappy, will be insuring my Nova with as well when its ready.
Ollie, can you do good quotes for young drivers (just past)??
Any chance of a rough price?

Sky won't even insure, 19 and 2 years driving experience minimum. I had to wait a couple years before they'd insure me.
edit: They were however still really helpful, recommending good companies for my details!
Oh that sucks, cant find him quotes under 4K at the mo. Its a piss take.

Hi,
apologies but no, this is not our area.
Try an 'insure the box' type product.

Yes, we offer agreed valuations but will look at what is presented to us before offering this, we'd usually only offer it for a limited mileage second car.

We do it the sensible way , the only way to do it without being burned with fraudulent claims when the cars are over-valued.
I understand that fully. Is there anyway to tell if i'd be able to get it? As i dont wanna go thru everything to be told no..

We can look at them but you'll need to be a good risk, eg keep the car off road at home address, good level of NCB etc

Spoke to Luke at Sky a couple of times today. Got me a decent quote then bettered it after a quote I got elsewhere. Lowered the deposit for me and mirrored the ncb on another one of my cars. Top lad, cheers Luke.
Iirc, and if it's the same staff as a few years ago..! Luke is their Nova enthusiast, he was awesome when dealing with trying to insure my 1.6 8v too :) Soooo nice to just list "2.0 16v brakes, E16SE...." etc rather than try and explain everything lol
Luke was fantastic when quoting me too.

Just thought I'd throw in a little commendation given Mike's recent issues... fantastic service from Sky again today, swapped the insurance back to my BMW since my sisters now passed her test and wants the Corsa I was driving as a stop gap, was expecting it to be a fortune going from Corsa to BMW, but it was was £8 less than the refund I got going the other way, all sorted out nice and easy and arranged a call back closer to my renewal to enquire about a different vehicle I've been looking at, when they said they can offer a more realistic quote :)

Just started a new policy with Sky Insurance for my heavily modded GTE. Dealt with Chris who went all out to ensure Sky beat the best quote I had. A Professional and efficient service. Highly recommend.

Yes, that is correct. If our underwriters see a high volume of changes of vehicle they will impose a limit.
Thats a bit unfair in my opinion, doubt i'll be renewing then.
Well within my rights to change my car when i feel like it.

Hi,
it's an issue outside of our control I'm afraid but we'd be sorry to lose you on that basis. Worth mentioning, if it is an issue we have, it is an issue other insurers will also have.
Thanks
Sorry but i've never had any issue with previous insurers.
Go for a traders policy archie mate. Thats what i did. All you do is get a receipt book for when you buy/sell a car. You can have as many vehicles as you like.

Hi, do you do fire and theft insurance for a car that will do 0 miles a year? It is just sitting in my garage will not be used.
Cheers
Barry
If it's your nova, maybe contact your house insurers? Just wondering at what point a shell and an assortment of parts becomes a car! Not sure which way it would go but it might be worth a phone call to see if it'd be covered under contents insurance?

Tbh its just so I build up my second set of ncd. I've got 2 sets just now but do you not lose it if you don't use it with in 2 years or something?
Fair play then, carry on :) and yes you do lose it, probably depends on the insurer but 2/3 years sounds about right.
Apparently you forget to drive after that and have to learn all over again while crashing into people? lol

I have requested a call back on the website.
But do you cover pr4 postcodes? cant see it being a problem really as there hasn't been any crime here for 10 years and the police HQ is over the road from my house haha.
also im 26, 0ncb, IN10 6 points, 3 years car license holder, 4 years bike license with 3 years ncb, 1 year claim free as named driver on company van.
And wanting to insure my nova xe
Best quote i had was £530 on compare site
I'd suggest you ticked the "replacement engine" option on the comparison site? Which doesn't actually cover an engine swap, just the original engine being refitted...
I'd be very surprised if you managed to get a quote for £530 with an IN10 and 0ncb!
