Been looking at these for a while and was on ebay earlier and spotted this one (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1987-BMW-316-Carb-E30-M10-Coupe-Manual-only-45k-Miles_W0QQitemZ140286091907QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAuto mobiles_UK?hash=item140286091907&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A7%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318) ok it may not be the fastest but it does look pretty good as it is. Dont really want to sell the nova but im tempted to get this as well and then probably end up selling one of them! lol

Im sure the saloon fans will appreciate it if no one else, what with there love for a big rear end.. lol lol

Looks very tidy. I had an E30 BMW, 320. I can imagine a 1600 carb fed being abit wheezy TBH lol

True, but reading the description its listed as a 1800!? dunno if thats wrong or whether they just have called it that for some strange reason. I know the 1800s are a four pot as well

My dad had a 320 and I really liked it, its quite a heavy car but performed well, he then sold it to someone for a track car and it now runs a 2.5 with a welded diff!

Hell yeah! although I think its perely a track car now, cheers slothsport but if I do get one its gotta be a sweet one, this one seems to fit the bill, its solid, local and cheap enough!

Only thing is I couldnt get round to viewing it today and hes got someone else looking at it tomorrow.

I had a 318 E30 last winter.never missed a beat. I sold it for what i paid for it and had soooooo much fun on the slippy back roads!
You will be suprised how much torque the 4 pots have. Try and get a non powere steering car as they seem better to drive on back roads.

that was the first thing i spotted too

the early bmw had the model and engine size in there description ie
e316 was a 3 series with a 1.6 engine in it.

and as you pointed out, its listed as a 1800.
i'd be asking questions on that one.

other then that, for 400 as it stands now, nice car.

Nope, thats wrong sean lol

With the E30's, the 316 was a 1.8 with a single choke carb. The 318 had a twin choke.

The 316i is a 1.6 injection though lol

I had a 318 and tried to kill it. I drove it up a stream, rammed it into a tree, and generally abused it, and it wouldnt die! I ended up driving it to the scrappy after it thoroughly beat me lol

316 just means its poverty spec, still got a 1.8 lump :)

would be a brilliant shell for a conversion if you had a rusty 325 sport, hard to find a shell like that tough

E30's can look pretty sexy. you can buy mine but not for £400 lol

ps. doesnt really matter what engine you have in a 30, theyre all great fun. everytime i see my mates 1.8 the back end is out Lol. i have a 320 and im sure its a lot more tail happy than the E36 325 & 328 i have.

buy it and have some fun over winter, keep your novas garaged up and at the end of winter sell the BM and get the nova back out :thumb:

I had one a while ago and it was the worst car ive ever driven. Also you say have fun over winter, yes its rwd but unless you weld the diff you'll be getting very annoyed.

I like E30s. Must be my desire for multiple headlamps and boots, as it goes inline with my saloon and Dolomites.

Sloth

mmmm dolly.....
i was told the 2.0 box on the 2.5 was a no-no, as it wont hack it?
any info?

Mmmmm, Dolomites. My dad had a BRG sprint. My first experience with cars. It gave me the car gene i think! Helped him (read watched and messed about lol i was very young!) swap the bodyshells after the original rotted out.

I had a Red E30 320.

Sold it on to a mate. He dropped it and painted the grill black. Then he sold it on!

the e30 is the best bmw imo.

btw.. www.e30.de (http://www.e30.de) .. iirc there was a how-to fit a 745 engine.

drove one of those older carb fed bimmers. 'wheezy' is an understatement, my 14sr powered nova felt like a missile after driving my m8s and the back end wouldn't break traction above 10mph in the dry no matter how hard you try, i drive like a knob tho, if you dont care about performance at all they're pretty nice and comfy to run round in. not the most reliable either apparently, he had a few issues with fuel pump and ignition IIRC

E30s are the best yeah, but most of them are rust buckets, would love to get a 325i sport but im looking out for a 328i e36 in the summer, something to have a bit of fun in
