between the tuned up sr and the 16valve gsi, id go for the 1.616valve cause u can tune this to a higher degree than the 1.4sr i think, although the sr mite well be quicker with the mods u suggested........

the 16v lump produces 110-115 as standard

with the filter and exhaust you should get a nice increase as the original parts are restrictive - a new inlet manifold makes an even bigger increase but i'd defo go for the 16v outta the lot

1.4SR with 40's head and cam will prolly make 100 possibly 110 if your lucky so ur defo better buying the 16v

The 1.4 will have more power, and torque. I would say around 130bhp and 140+ lbft of torque. It will without question whoop ass over the other two. The only reason to go for the others would be that you can tune them further afterwards. You could add carbs, head and cam to the 8v which would be very quick, or you could go to TB's on the 16v, but out of the three engines you list there, the 1.4 without doubt, would be quickest.

you can get a manifold for the 16v to fit 40's on priced at ?97, you then need the linkage kit, 40's them selves and some ignition kit as it doesnt have a proper distributor!

Cool, at last someone does the manifold for the 16v. Is it SBD? That would be the combo to go with.

Corsa New : NEW Martin Bowyer Corsa 1600 16V inlet manifold for twin 40s, with studs & nuts, price includes VAT (?97.87 plus VAT) ?115

if u do a search for '16v' on the site it shud b near the top.

iv been considering this for some time but decided to stick with saving for throttle bodies ;)
