hi folks needing a bit advice here my 2l 16v nova runs 60mm gmax springs and g max shocks but i feel the ride is to hard so wnting to soften it up a bit was thinking of keeping the springs but getting standard shocks fitted what do yous think.

Standard shocks on anything more then a 40mm drop is a no no generally. You will end up going through shocks very quickly, risk losing your rear springs as they could fall out and the ride will be poo.

Are those GMAX springs designed for the extra weight of a 2.0 16v?

I drove my 2.0 8v for a while on gmaz 60mm kit and tbh it was dangerous, theres a well known coner round my way which I used to push 80+ in my 1600 no problems but I had to back off with the gmax otherwise it would have ended up in the barrier! lol

Long story short, get a decent setup, Im using courtenay springs on bilstein b8s and cant fault them...

i think your stupid for not having decent suspension before fitting the xe

Get a decent setup. IMO keeping the springs with standard shocks will be worse. The setup you have now is probably not man enough to cope with the extra front end weight of the XE hence your poor handling. Get some decent shocks and some 2.0 specific springs and you should see an improvement.

GMAX stuff is utterly shocking even on a std smallblock IMO.

It's just totally under developed, poorly damped & badly sprung. Hang a weighty bigblock from it & it doesnt cope very well.

Get some fat piston Bilstein B8 dampers & some decent poundage springs to support the extra weight. Failing that; coilovers with springs around 280lb rate.

Just on the front. Where most of the weight will be.

i also want to be able to adjust how hard or soft the ride will be which coilovers do you recommend cheers.

Some adjustbale shocks and 2.0 16v springs are prob what you need. Think you can get ride adjustment coilovers but they are extra.

not so long back i saw a dealer on ebay selling janspeed coilover kits for £300 all in with postage, had shocks and springs for the rear, and adjustable height and damp rate coilovers for the front, couldnt comment on quality, but looked like a good set to me.

edit : correction, £232.50 - corsa B and nova's
