Anyone know where I can find some info to read up on? I have searched but trying things like 1.2 1.6 gsi engine swap doesn't really turn up anything too useful most of the time.

Ive done this swap, I bought a 50 Euro 1.2 from ebay and transplated a 1600 GSI Engine.
1. Must Haves

Brakes (From early astra or the GSI) with the small type callipers
Anti Roll Bar from GSI
Loom Complete with ECU from the 1600 engine
There is a strengthening anti roll bar in the rear axle
Fuel tank (must be the injection type)
Rear drums can stay although discs are better.

Tip the biggest thing is to label all the things off the donor vehicle and make sure you transfer the part and the wiring required.

also dont have to swap the tank , just find a mk3 astra MPI internal fuel pump , this will swap with you 1.2i pump fine :thumb:

The engine mounts are the same incidentally which is a real treat.

Didn't really think this warranted a new post, it's probably been covered before but as mentioned in the first post i can't find much info about engines using the search functions, all the terms are too short !

I'll hopefully be rebuilding this engine over christmas/easter/next summer (student :thumb:) so what are the main things to look for, new seals/gaskets all round is an obvious one, to me at least? i'm told it's done 150k so i'm guessing piston ring replacement would be a good idea, check followers, bores, camshaft, main bearing journals, pistons, rods, block in general, basically anything that could be a potential metal to metal contact for damage? Anything else i should be looking out for?
