whats types of engine rebuild is there and how much are you looking at for it??
how much would you say to get it rebuilt.?
it all depends on what is actually needed on the engine in question.
for instance on a small block xe (1.4/1.6 16v) from a local engien builders you are talking £170-£200 for a full set of rings, a re-hone, a crank re-grind, new mains and big ends ad a bottom end gasket set. £170 for std bearing £200 for uprated bearings.
will be similar prices for most vaux 4pot engines.
then you will be talking about £40 for a top end strip down/clean. £30 for skim. £40ish for headset and bolts. then cambelt kit, oils ect ect

Only way to find out for sure fella is to give engine shops a bell and see what they can do for you. All depends on what your engine needs doing, your location what you want done and what not.

cheers pal, i had a diesel astra van before and got me self a modified c20xe astra van.
to be fair the bottom end could do with rebuilding and a quick clean down. while the top end has had a new head.
its had a new 16 valves with a new pulley.
ck - i would love to know where your getting your prices from.
£170-£200 for a full set of rings, a re-hone, a crank re-grind, new mains and big ends ad a bottom end gasket set
rings are maybe £30-40, hone £20ish, crank grind could be between £70-90, bearings £40 ish, gasket sets are about £35-40
bearings for a c20xe are £50odd, headset/sumps set £55 each or so, not all the same prices, your a tad low on prices imo
depending on engine, for a freshen up, cam belt, water pump etc budget £500 or so
prices are from my local engine builder. excluding labour. which if i were to drop the bottom end to him would cost £70 to strip clean and put back together with the work i had listed above.
he will even countersink the rod caps for ARP's in that price asswell

Drive in / drive out rebuild is about a grand in my experience (including VAT).
Not cheap but removing the lump & taking it to an engineers will save lots.

you would be better to just leave the block with the engine builder let them do all the work on that end and you could do the rest yourself you would save a lot of money that way
I'd always budget £500 MINIMUM if you do most of the labour... This is because you might get a case of "oh while its out I'll do XYZ" ;)
