Theres a Nova stood up in a car park for a block of flats near where i live and i want to get hold of the owner to see if they want to get rid of it. It's been there for some time as it has green stuff forming over it.
Whats the best way to do this? I'm going to put a note on it but the owner might not see it or may have even moved?
Is there a way i can contact DVLA and find owner details or are they not allowed to give out this info.
Cheers, Tom
The DVLA will not give you any info because you are not the registered keeper of the car. They do it with us at work, you use to be able to get any info you wanted, but they cracked down now. :thumb:
Who owns the car park? If its a residents parking kinda affair, they might have a record of the owner.
I think the DVLA can give out owner details for a nominal fee, but I'm pretty sure you need to have reasonable cause to require the information, e.g. a clamping firm needing owner information.
you tried leaving a note on it? pm me the reg aswell. ill give someone a bell

I've just put a note together now i'm going to put on it at lunchtime.
Burgo - I'll write down the Reg and PM you
Just buy mine, it's in better condition than that by the sound of it. lol
If it's a decent model and pretty original I'd be applying for the V5, but then I am a pikey lol

You not sold it yet lauren?
I've got a guy that's interested but he's trying to get the cash together, plus he lives 450 miles away so personally I think he's taking me for a bit of a ride. lol

I'm only after it for a few parts so i'm not looking to spend much lol
It's a white 3door basic model and looks in very good nick!.. no rust around the rear arches etc
I can see another project in the pipeline if it's as good as it looks

just open the door and sit in it and the owner will soon come running out lol. Ask about near the car someone might know who's it is.
Theres been a few instances of this sort of stuff on the net now
One guy got an escort cossie, another an s2000 and another a mk1 golf gti
they applied for the V5, the dvla contact the owner, if they hear no reply in a certain timescale, they send you the V5 in your name
however, legalities surrounding ownership are a grey area
google is you friend

Apply for the V5C, if the current owner doesnt reply to the DVLA it will be yours.

Well the note is now planted so i'll just play the waiting game!
The car park is isolated from the block of flats so i wouldnt know which houses to knock on. I suppose i could drive past regularly and see if i spot anyone getting into the cars parked next to it.
Apply for the V5C, if the current owner doesnt reply to the DVLA it will be yours.
lol true, but the V5 doesnt mean you actualy own the car.

Meh! ;)
Not all this again lol. Apply FTW. If not response from current owner then it's as good as yours :)

Well i have some news on this..
I was driving down through the high st on saturday evening when i saw a car coming in the opposite direction with no front bumper, as it came closer i was stunned to see that it was the white nova! I'm sure it hasn't moved for months so this was a little confusing.
I'm going to check the car park again, and knock on a couple houses if it's still there!
Sounds like its just been twocced then mate, UFL if it haslol

Lets hope you didnt miss it on its final journey to the great scrapper in the sky.
Spendin £23 or whatever it is now to gain ownership of the escort cossie i understand but for a base model nova **** that i wouldnt want the hassle.
