dont use one... if you've got a healthy battery and decent wiring you dont even need a power cap tbh, there abit of a placebo and dont exacty do much. acouple of my friends are running a couple of the loudest systems in eh southwest ond none of them use pwer caps..

bigger output alternator if you want to stop "disco lights" at night, other than that decent battery and wiring. power caps are only really good for short bursts (so i've been told) so if your constantly listening at high volume, it'll discharge then need to charge back up again. i've never bothered personally

in personal opinion power cap = Battery Drain.

there just a gimic to make your install look better

i fitted power cap 2 my install, gives me better sound quality and it switches its self off wen fully charged.

Your power caps got a perm live that "should" switch off when the install is turned off. Re check how youve wired it in.

On another note, a power cap is merely an oversized capacitor. Did you also know Power Caps are explosive once fully charged ;)

im sorry to say, iv had a battery explode on me,

battey went flat in the work van, we got one of them booster/starter charger, before the weekend, some one replaced the started, and did not tighten the lead down on the battery,

boosted it for 30seconds all the gas come out, turned it over, spark, boom,
i was about half a meter away,

now i have so much more respect for them :)

If one exploded in your boot, id put money on you not coming out of hospital breathing.

Its not all bad though, there full of some kind of electro static charging oil. So if you do survive you'll only need a skin graft (Not being sarcy BTW)

Just to add, a Powercap works exactly the same as a wet type ignition coil :thumb:

weve ahd a transit one go at our work, when they go, they go out with a bang, we had to get the forklift and a palett for someone to clean it all off the 50ft high roof
