You will need one from a Gte/Gsi, the wire should be taped up somwhere on one of the wires down the back of the engine.

are the standard sr, sri, gte, gsi dials easy to fit into a 1.2

Get the right dials for the right age car, so if you have a Mk1, get GTE/SR dials; if you have a mk2 get GSi/SRi dials. Saves having to splice the appropriate connector on (Mk1 has a 12 pin, Mk2 a 14 pin) and fadge around with mounting the dialset.

its not just the clocks that you need , its also the pressure sender, your 1.2/1.4 only have a oil switch so wont do pressure , this is needed of a sri/gte/gsi

And cost feck loads. Avoid ebay descriptions for buying the clocks too, everything Nova related on there is SRI/GTE/GSi C20LET (funks me right off)

Basically i have a mk1 1.2 saloon, but i have a 1.4 sr engine to go in. Does the sr engine have a pressure sender built in?

Yeah, it should have a large cylindrical sender/sensor on the back of the oil pump. Should be 2 pins on it. One for the oil light in the dash which your current engine/clocks will have, but also another (2) terminals for the gauge in SR/GTE clocks.

Cool thats cleared it up quite nicely cheers, also do i just need a wire to connect to the coil for the rev counter?

green wire to the coil and there should be a blue/green wire that will go to the oil pressure switch (big round thing with 2 plugs on it).
Then just plug them into the new clocks once sorced.

Where will the wires be in the engine bay taped up somewhere.

Green Revs wire to coil negative IIRC.
