If any areas are down to bare alloy then i would etch primer them as well

My wheels were pretty clean when I started but I used some rough sand paper to smooth out all of the slightly corroded bits then used some 800 to go over the rest of the wheels

Then I used some etch primer (2 coats) on the wheel and centre cap then let it dry/harden and rubbed it down again with some smoother 1200 paper

Once I had cleaned the wheel up (free of dust etc) I hit it with the final colour

Heres some pics of how they turned out

This is how they started:

2 coats of etch primer:

Painted but still wet:

Finally dryed with the centre caps done as well:

you can sand kerbing out equally as its easy to sand it out with normal sand paper.

Agreed, never understand why some ppl only paint the outside when changing the colour
