i had a bash at making some off these today. i started with this.

then cut 2" out and was left with this, which didnt line up at all.

about 3 hours worth of thinking later i then held the end piece of plastic i cut off upto the mirror and drew a line from the top and bottom off the piece i just cut off, to the center off the the mirror backing, and cut with a hacksaw into like a wedge shape but left the middle intact and bent it into place like so.
http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee77/bendoodar/bensphotos103.jpg
masking taped the 2 pieces together and around the gaps and then fibreglass mat the inside together
http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee77/bendoodar/bensphotos113.jpg
then filled and flatted to give me this.

this is quite a good pic to see where ive cut the mirror.

still needs a good few skims of filler but its allmost there now and have got the shape. will put more pics up as i go along. so far its been easyer than i thought it would of been.

What about the rest of the mirror? A future up date maybe?

the outer plastic casing is the hardest part to do as you have to re-aline the lines up on it, the other part off the mirror can be chopped straight down the middle and fill back together, and ill get my mate to cut the glass down who has a glass cutter.

I can't wait to see you start the mirror surrounds...... Good effort up until now. If only I'd used fibreglass when I did mine.

tbh It sounds like it would be easier to start the Surrounds/backs from scratch than to mod the existing ones..

Lee did the same sort of mod wile leaving my lockup a few years back.
The end result was a very stubby mrror on one side as most of it was on the floor.
Keep up the good work but Lee's way was alot quicker.

yh there probably is an easyer way, but once id thought how to do it, it only took half an hour or so, hopefully the other side will be easy, now i know how to do it. thanks for the comments.

Any more progress ? :)
yh i did a little more sanding the other nite, pritty much ready for primer now, but had a bit of an arguement (full on arguement) with my old man on tuesday so ive not been up his house since. lol im going to do a bit more after work, hopefully (if hes calmed down) primer them and cut the frame down tonight, will add some piccys today or tomoz, im too much of a perfectionist tho so that takes a bit more time.
cheers. X
