I'm thinking this may be an electrical fault rather than a mech problem, so putting it in here for now.. lol

Ok, my cav dials have a red oil warning light, which I've connected to the oil warning light wire on the Nova (poverty spec mk1) loom, I assume this is oil pressure rather than level...?

The light never came on, not even when ignition on, until recently it started to flicker on when driving, just a bit, but then stopped when the engine was warm. Now its flickering on a lot more when driving, not sure if it goes out when cold as I don't fancy running it with an oil warning lol. The light also comes on constant when the ignition is switched on.

There's plenty of oil in there, its clean but not so clean that I'd say its not being pumped round. Is it likely the oil level/pressure sensor has gone US, or the oil pump has had it? Any way I can check either of them?

If you leave the engine overnight for the oil to seep down into the sump, you can remove the pressure sensor with minimal mess for cleaning with IPA or suchlike. Even after a fresh oil change I've found the stuff around there to be thick black gungy crap so it might be worth removing the oil pump aswell for a strip down and cleaning session.

If it kept flicking on check the wire isnt dodgy.
If you put the engine end of the wire to earth i think the dash light should illuminate.

If the light comes on when your driving, it basically means you're f**ked and engine has about 4psi oil pressure lol (Should have about 20psi on a hot engine, on idle)

Thats what I'm thinking, the car does vibrate a lot at low revs so could be a loose wire.

Where abouts is the sender? I'll check there's a good connection there and its not shorting out on anything...

Back of the engine block, at the bottom, drivers side.
