would only need to run a wire from the coil to the back of the dash to make the rev gauge work.

Piece of pee matey.

I have a merit and one of the first ever mods I did was change to the 6dial SR clocks.

Remove your current dials. On the back of your new dials there will be 2 additional spade connectors. One behind the Tacho and the other behind the oil pressure gauge.

If there isnt a wire already taped up somewhere on the loom then, as mentioned by AW06, run a wire from the negative terminal on your coil to the tacho spade connector, hey presto revs.

If you want to get your oil pressure gauge working you need a oil pressure sender with a 2 pin connection, which will take place of the current 1 pin pressure switch. 1 Pin will switch your oil pressure light on and the other will feed the oil pressure gauge. Again run a wire from the sender to the back of the gauge and you're sorted. (If you dont mind not having the oil pressure gague working then once you but your dial plug back on then your gauge will go off the scale when you switch your ignition on).
