View Full Version : *HOW TO* Rear Disc Conversion
I can take no credit for this, i found it posted by mayhem in 2007 when i was searching for info on doing this myself.
The other thing i found was lots of people asking how to do it and everyone telling them to use the search so i thought if we put it here it'll be easier to direct people!

can u use caviler rear calipers an hubs on mtech kit or are they different?
You should be able to use an hubs and calipars from a cav/astra beam.

hate to b a pain but are cavalier an astra rear hubs the same then? i have a chance of having my mates cavgsi2000 rear brakes as stripping car. will they fit straight on to nova axle with kit?
You cant use any thing that's from a IRS set up. (anything 4x4)
But yes Cav and Astra hubs will be the same. As long as they arnt IRS

Ok, i sorted my handbrake cable today. So i thought i would post the info in here seeing as it gets asked so much!!
I used the RH Nova cable (long one. Part Number 108720161) and a mk2 Cav LH cable (short one. Part Number 108720041). Got these from Euro Car Parts.
All i did to lengthen the Cav cable was construct a sleeve. I then ran an M8 tap through it, added 2 nylock nuts abit of M8 stud and voila...

Also, i had to buy the shackle assemblies for mine. Got these parts from Autovaux. Part numbers are in the pics..

All fitted..

Hope this helps.
The Cav mk2 estate calbe is 20/30mm longer, so would shouldn't have to extend it. I didn't. Nice work tho dude.

Thanks.
Not sure if mine is an estate one TBH. I just typed Vauxhall, Cavalier, 2.0, 1987 into Euro Car Parts search. Picked the short LH cable!!!!
Yeah, its an estate one on my car and its worked perfectly. Really good job as well.

I was looking at the original guide and it had a handbrake cable sleeve also welded on the axle, I didn't get any so was jut going to weld a piece of sleeving to each side of the beam. Is that good enough?anyone know the diameter if the sleeve?
