Ive had the same problem.I moved to Scarborough in June 2007.I have drinking buddys but nobody i would call a friend up here (im from Hull)
I moved here because my mrs is from this area.I dont suppose i will ever make friends in Scarborough tbh but i have my Hull mates still.

I love living down south, some of the people down here are so friendly. Made a load of new friends in the Blue Anchor last night in Helston whilst getting ratted on Spingo Special lol

How about joining some local clubs - sports, fitness clubs, local car forums?

Hobbies/clubs etc are a good place to start....
Even here, become a club member and get to your local meet where you should have a common interest to "break the ice".....

this forum is not like the middle east you know.....

you can't just not recognise the existance of a place like that hamas bloke & israel

mind you, hinckley on a saturday night does resemble the gaza strip after the israeli prime minister has had a bad week in the opinion polls.....

'Norf'= The best anyway.

If you're into cars you'll easily meet some like-minded males on the local forums.

I'm wondering what it'll be like when I move, I won't know anyone there.

I'm round Stevenage way this weekend, I live in Letchworth when i'm not working so i'm home evey other weekend!

If you want to hang round in your car, Stevo Leisure Park is the place where everyone sits about, the people in the end by the nursery are them from www.cruise-herts.net , the people in the other side by the railway station are known as the DOC, a pi$$ take rival to the other lot.

If drinking is your thing, everyone starts on the Plaza which is in the town centre by McDonalds, then onto Chicago's/Liquid.

I'll be floating around that way on Fri and Sat night if your at a loose end mate, will be over there in a 52plate silver Focus ST170.

Play games and talk to people online. Actual solid friends are overrated. You can do your shopping at home or play Mortal Kombat with a friend in Vietnam, there's no end to the possibilities :)

Paint your own and make your hand appear from behind the curtain. Sorted.

Plus this way you don't have to inject Stuarts scrotum with water after he's made you knock one off.

These things take time I think once you get to know the area more and the places to go to socialise you will find you fit in :thumb:

Are you telling him to take up magic? Will that make friends?

I'd rather just have a w#+k

^ lol

Shaving the back of his hand and painting his nails will calling himself 'Big ___' in a high pitched voice will give the undeniable illusion that there is a lady present.

Is it feck, you soft southern pansies can't handle the cold, can't handle your drink, and can't go to a football match without getting arrested. Sure as hell aint Scottish.

Stop trying to offload them Stuart! However, the further north you go the better it gets (excluding Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds), possibly with the exception of Somerset. They might be inbred but at least they're sociable and friendly :D

Wow what a small world, I live in kent but work in potters bar, and have spent a year in stevenage, still have some friends there. Have to agree old town is better. Leisure park is a good source of night life, A good quiet drink is the granbe near Lister hospital.

Get yourself a job. Then you will go out for a 'quiet' drink with a few work mates a few times, get really drunk and wake up the next morning with loads of random phone numbers on your phone. Done it loads of times. lol
