Buy clamps. They cost like 12quid

Yea, buy some clamps chap.

Spring to the head will result in either instant death, mega pain and definetly severve fcuked up face'ige! Ive seen a coilover spring go straight through a breeze block wall, defiently buy some clamps.

take the centre nut off the strut
jack the car up slowly
leave the topmount on the car and take off the shock
take the spring out
put the new one in
put the shock and spring arangement on the car
let the car down till the shock goes through the top mount
tighten the centre nut

Someone had to come up with a way of making a relatively small job a pain in the **** and dangerous in the aid of saving about a tenner.

Sounds like it may work but I wouldn't try it myself.

even if you do have spring compressors, following steps 1 and 2 still make the job easier and safer because theres no chance of the spring hitting your face because the shock is still in the middle of the spring. by the time the spring can come out from under the arch the spring is decompressed.plus youve then redused the risk of hurting yourself with the compressors.

sure, youll get them off, but good luck getting them on without using more than £12 worth of time frustration, knuckle skin and tears.

yeh man, u do not wanna attempt it without clamps. ive been told a story from a garage of a spring shooting off upwards and punching through a pain of glass that was mounted in the sloping roof and it landing in someones garden a few houses away.

a spring can kill you if it hits you in the face/head and seriously injure you if it hits you elsewhere, as said DO NOT attempt it without a spring compressor, they are far too cheap to not invest in.

ha stand on the spring and fire the nut of with a airgun. works every time .lol
the new springs will prob go on without the need for a spring compressor.
