Ive had this car in my garage for a while now so thought i would start a thread of the many sleepless nights and bashed hands I will get on the way.The car is a 1989 Black GTE and has belonged to about six of my friends over quite a few years. So after selling my cav turbo I decided at having a crack at doing a xe/let toy as i bought the car a few years before for scrap value and had sat in my cousins garden looking sorry for itself:(

Here is how she did look when my cousin last had it

Gave her a quick was before putting in the garage, came up quite well

The plan for the car is a standard looking GTE on white cav slabs, white roll cage, white badges all round, Aero bonnet pins etc.

I have rounded up for the project

Cage
X5 wheels
all new panels
Brand new 2.0 16V Calipers (ebay for 99p :D )
X4 dealer sport mudflaps
Brad new radiator
smoked repeators
16v/turbo conversion kit
Exhaust
Rear arch repair panels
Cills

The car is now stripped and has to go on

Thanks for the comments. The shell seems ok, pretty much all the panels were in a poor state but managed to source a tailgate and bonnet in the colour, both mint and two mint doors from my scrappy for 15 quid a piece. Shes has had a hard life, but never been crashed and has quite a sentimental value really. I know i could buy a mint shell for a couple of hundred but ive seen this car through thick and thin over the years. Ive never done any thing more than basic maintenance so its pretty much all new to me, although my cousin knows his stuff and has volunteered for welding duties:thumb: God help himlol .
Little pic of his turbo project below. I bet his mum flipped when she found out what was in her conservatory lol

Love the nova in the conservatory mate, thats hilarious! Looks like he's wrecked a gte as well?

yeh sore point real shame the result off 60mph plus impact. My cousins last GTE The nova was stationary and was hit head on by a merc. Very very lucky to walk away. The engine is pressed against the bulkhead, gear box split apart. The car itself stayed real straight doors cabin etc stood up real well IMO.

Thanks for the positive comments. No updates at the moment, welding is the next task really. yeh the cav is my cousins fennahs turbo. Also a big fan like me, miss mine loads but i wanted a usuable project and my cav spent too much time in the garage wrapped in cotton wool so i decided to sell it and do the nova. Few pics below:cry:
