Hi people, I've got a 1.6 8v ohc carb engine here lying in a car. I am thinking of trying to get it running before I take it out.

Does anyone know what power these engines make standard? Anyone ever had one?

Wow!! I had thought about about 80-85, brilliant.

That would be great if it makes the same power as a GSi engine. I will have try to get it running!

The 1.6 injections make 100bhp ish. I think the carb engine (16SV?) is a lot lower. Unsure on the figure though.

Edit: 82bhp after a quick search

Yeah I knew about the gte/gsi 100 bhp, and the cavalier 1600 mpi makes 90 bhp, just wasn't sure on the carb. I was looking on parkers there and the mk2 cavaier 1.6 petrol makes 90 bhp, and the old astra 1.6s make 82 bhp??

Only one way to find out lol .
