I want my bay to have less, to be smoother.
So im thinking of removing my wiper motor.. But willit look a bit odd?

Cant find any proper pics so i've borrowed one (cheers austin)
Holes smoothed but still with a recess.

Do it benn, as long as you can make the wipers work ok!

/\ ditto but how are you going to attach wipers?

Benn

Ah i have a plan for that.. 3different motors on the boil just need to work out which one works best,
Cheers john (any gen on the sensor?) and nbc.

Could you not use a Corsa setup?

Btw - Go for it.

Thats one on the boil, but need more pics of how and what.

Do it Benn. You tha man when it comes to bodyworkage.

The wiper motor does look a bit silly there tbh when it could be tucked away somewhere.

Let us know what setup you go for.

Yeah my thoughts too. Everything will go in my project thread.

Cool will take a look see.

[edit] Maybe a cav style setup. The motor is under the scuttle cover in somewhere in the middle IIRC.

I think you will need to smooth it bud and just shape it til it looks right.

I'm going to have a play with a corsa setup over the next few weeks too. Briefly looking at it you will need to keep the nova spindles as they're angled whereas the corsa ones aren't and you you need to chop and lengthen ever so slightly the distance between the holes. Easy enough if you have access to a welder (hopefully!).

I say smooth & plate over the firewall section where the std motor sat. Will look cool, you need empty sections of metal work/paintwork to show off the smoothing you have done.

i was reading a previous thread on engine bay smoothing and people wernt to sure on the best product to smooth it out with,ie body filler, lead etc.

i want to smooth mine but dont want it cracking.

any more suggestions out there?

If you look back thru my project thread theres pic of the engine bay.

You need to plate all the seams so the metal makes up the shapes then lightly skim with a black flexi fiberglass then lightly fill to make totaly smooth.

Gonna do it now. Cheers guys.

Simp you'll have to give me a bit of gen, Got a motor comming but not the linkage, so hoping to get away with using the nova one.

Thought of the ax motor, but would be a single wiper if i did that and i'm not a fan of them.

The motors are basically the same as nova just different wiring plug, they bolt up the same tho. Its the linkage that you need to mod. I'm now going to take a look at it tonight. I'll report back.

Can't remember where I saw a picture - but some euro nova had moved the original nova motor to be mounted behind the glove box inside the car with the crank arm rotating through a hole on the bulkhead straight back onto the original nova linkage - a bit difficult to explain but looked really easy and clean

How does the rest of the bulkhead look benn, will you be re-routing the wiring too? Go for the completely smooth bulkhead while your at it!

You reckon the power steering resevoir is being used as a header tank?

bit daft after all that he hasn't got a bonnet stay, or lifters lol

Iirc yeah it is. And yeah i've thought that before..

Well the linkage I've got is a Corsa C which is different to the Corsa B and you can't use it because the mechanical arms would foul on the firewall whereas the corsa B don't as they are engine side.

However, I just used the nova stuff and the swung the rod round that goes to the motor and placed the motor here...

Depending on a few things it could pretty much go anywhere!

- Does shortening the rod that connects to the motor effect the length of the sweep?
- By moving the motor to the other side of the car will it now sweep backwards? ie across the bonnet not the screen.

I'm away this weekend so won't get a chance to play with it anymore and I didn't hve a battery up there with me tonight. :(

No shortening the rod will not affect the sweep but may slightly affect the rate of the sweep?

No it should'nt do aslong as the linkage turns the same way (counter clockwise i presume?) as it normally would? The only way they would go the wrong way is if the motor turned the other way.

That motor above is the same as a nova one just that the front a little shinier cos its newer! But they are all essentially the same.

That what i thought, but it was making my head go all squibbly trying to picture it all!

So where I've got mine should work fine. Just need to make up a mounting plate for it.
