Years and years ago i thought it was 'wEll KL Init' to write all over my walls! i then realised it looked pants so covered it in posters and flyers but now i want to re-decorate. Ive started with a bass coat of matt white but the writing just keeps coming thorugh!! Anyone out there with some tips on how i can get it to go away? The walls are royal blue with writing in black marker, im trying to paint them magnolia (sp) do i need some form of sealer? thanks in advance, Tom :thumb:

Permenant marker pen will keep on coming through emulsion/vynal silk paint coatings for ever.
You got 2 options -
1) Paint over it with Aluminium Wood Primer
2) Paint over it with oil based undercoat
From my experience (proffesional experience) use an oil based undercoat :thumb:
^ P.s. Stainblock is pap! Espcially for £5.50 +vat for a 500ml can!! Best stain block on the market is Zinsserbin but muchos costly & mega high VOC content.

Brilliant i was hopeing you would reply Mike :thumb:
Is it ok to paint over the oil based undercoat with magnolia emulsion?
Would white gloos do the trick as i have that here?

Its fine to paint over undercoat with emulsions chap :thumb:
Any kind of gloss would cover the markerpen, but you wont be able to paint over it with water based paints :(
Whilst youve got the undercoat out, do the skirting/door/frame and THEN gloss it :thumb: it'll come up a really nice, vibrant white :thumb:
