right since my car is goin away for winter soon , i shall be removing the engine to finish of what i didnt manage to do last year ,

just thinking of giving the engine a bit of a freshen up , since its quite a smoker under load ,

any ideas what the main cause is goin to be for that and do you think its goin to be worth rebuilding or should i just get another lump ,

i dont want to spend loads on it but i dont mind a couple of hundred

whats worth doin then and whats not ,

plus its an early 20xe with coscast head on it

thank you's

Is it not worn piston rings under load?

If it were me I'd strip it down and freshen it up, least its all going to new unlike another lump.

big ends
mains
head set
sump set
water pump
rebuild original oil pump
head bolts
cam belt bit.

then strip and rebuild head with new stem seals, de coke.

when blocks stripped get it measured to see if can get away with new rings otherwise re-bore and some 86.5mm pistons;)
