It was a 16 16v running sbd internals and throttle bodies, i think it put out about 160bhp, but obviously the power to weight ratio is really good. In my opinion it is the best nova ever built. This is the time from santa pod

1. Declan Burke 1598 16 Throttle bodies C5DEC Red SR 14.78 94.69 45mm Throttle bodies, BTB 2.25 S/S exhaust system, F13, NO LSD

true ste, but surely there would be a notable difference in handling with less weight over the front end. I understand what ure saying about the price thing doh, the engine management alone would have cost more than your entire conversion

have u ever driven a 2.0 16v?

Never driven one personally but i have been in one round my area, it was amazin but he did have problems with wheel bounce, torque steer, but in a straight line nothing could catch it. He admited that the handling wasnt quite as good as before it was converted, and i think it was on a bilstein setup with heavy springs on the front. Im sure there are ways round the handling problems, but with that amount of power going through a light fwd car anything more than about 150bhp is gonna be a handfull espcially in the wet. What suspension setup's have you run on your valvers ste out of interest? :?:

running a 5 year old jamex 60mm kit currently, no arbs, fully bushed

yeh u get understear but u just apply more power and more lock and pull it round.... i find my 1.4sr with a 35mm spax kit on handles worse

that always makes me laff wen peps come up with the old yes but 16vs dont handle! i think they handle brilliant, no one could do a mates golf on corners coz it was on 17s with a 120mm slam it handled so gud but the day i got my valver i culd just about have him bearing in mind i dont drive fast corners much to risky! what are the weight differences between a 8v 1600 and a 2L 16v? :?:

Ste_Nova
16-11-02, 03:42 PM
extra weight is the same as having a mate sit on the bonnet

i've helped mine by moving more weight down and backwards

sorry guys i wasnt takin the piss out off 2l 16v just simply pointing a fact out. As for the extra weight its normally when you couple the xe/let engine to a 6 speed box when major noticicable handling problems arrise, as the 6 speed is very weighty, and the harder springs you have to put on to compensate for this do not really enable precise handling

right dec sold the car early this year, but wots happened 2 it now ???

wasnt at any rwyb or shows this summer (or wasnt i looking hard enuff LOL)

note on the 1600 convertion... it can cost the same as a 2ltr convertion but using the smae mounts g/box no welding ect ect ect saves a lots of effort LOL its a lazy way 2 power thats why im researching the convertion LOL

pahh loads spent and stripped and only 0.5 quicker than my ?1000 2.0 16v

but surely if u read that tech spec theres ??? been spent on tarting that motor up. come on alloy header tanks! pa
