Im glad to see someone tuning up an 8v, easily get XE-like 150+bhp with a couple of carbs.

Not a bad looking car, personally don't like wheels which are not symetrical, makes the car look good on one side only.

First of all thanks for everyones comments

Right The Engine: I was basically speaking to a guy at the RS Owners Club and i was saying i didnt want a 16v i wanted to stick with 8v so he put me in touch with one of his mates who used to have a nova of this speck, I told him to give me a list of what he had used and done to get that much power has this is what i wanted. I then gave this to my friend a vauxhall tech who then did all the work, The guy showed me pics and RR Graphs of his nova has proof his car was running that much power but obviously im taking his word for it but i havnt got any evidence myself. My Nova will be going on the road in late march 2009 to be run in then put on the rollers to be set up so untill then no real proof. I know people are going to ask what was the reg of the guys Nova but all i know it was an H Reg In Rover Met Purple and it lived in Dudley West Midlands.

The Wheels are white all the way round the car lol and alot of people have said they didnt think it would look right in white. Personally i think iv proved them wrong i know there getting a mixed opinion but i like them and that all what matters to me.

Thanks again for the comments pos or neg

150bhp from a 1.6 8v is Grp-A spec, is it not ?

DEFINATELY gets my nod.

Red and white alays go well together, and its a proven fact that red cars are faster:tard: lol

Simple, and straight to the point.

Maybe go for a fixed rate suspension rather than Jamex? (Bilstein etc)

Is it ok to live with or is it more a weekend / track day (ab)user?

meach86
19-11-08, 06:13 PM
its not on road yet stan the man but it will be a summer car/weekend car/2nd car etc

Whats this about the suspension please explain

Stanley
19-11-08, 06:20 PM
Im guessing it will be a road car and maybe the odd track day?

If so, I (personally) feel that a fixed rate suspension kit would be more suitable. (Bilstein/Koni etc shocks and springs)

What was your reasoning in going for the coilovers? Ride height?

meach86
19-11-08, 06:22 PM
yeah you got it road and odd track day

I want it about 80mm drop but stiff do you think a good spring and shock kit would be better than coilovers for what im going to use the car for?

Stanley
19-11-08, 06:26 PM
Coilovers are good for a smooooth track or road. Usually most roads are bumpy and full of potholes (granted i live out in the sticks so i may be getting a bum deal..)

How adjustable are the coilovers? Can you adjust bound and rebound or is it just ride height only thats adjustable?

Bare in mind, the lower you go, the more negative camber you will have and this means less tyre is in contact with the road.

meach86
19-11-08, 06:32 PM
Yeah the road are SH*T round here aswel there only ride height adjustable

nice engine mods, would say it would be close to 150bhp when you get the carbs tuned to suit on the rolling road, looks well fair play :thumb:

Stanley
19-11-08, 06:39 PM
If possible, i'd try and get shot of the coilovers (someone with a premiership football hairdo and a Corsa will buy em lol ) and get a decent fixed rate kit.

I had some Bisteins and they were fantastic, as im sure a lot of people will testify.

Anymore on this? Looks a good project, simple styling and a bloody good engine by the sounds of it!

My 2.0 8v was running bilstein b8s and I cant fault them, they do the job well and DONT jarr you to death unlike g-max or those other cheap knock off kits.

yeh again not a big fan of your wheels mate, i would change them to black. i could you explain more on ''cammed''
and also thats some money spent on that engine, if its running at 152bhp then thats mint mate, great build. but would like to see a graph to prove mate when you get it back on the road.

meach86
08-02-09, 11:40 PM
Like i said previously i dont know to much about the engine side of things as im only self taught my mate does the technical stuff lol. I cant wait to get it on the rollers to find out myself. Iv just ordered new fuel pump as other one was not pulling the fuel up so when thats on hopefull the running in will begin and the rolling road wont be to far away.
