MK Meeting 1/12/02

Hello all,

I've just been to check the location and from what I can tell it should be big enough for us on the 1st December. If we say to meet at 2pm, that will give people time to get there if there travelling from distance.

The location is next to one of the lakes in Milton Keynes (Yes, MK has lakes! :o ). Along the lake there are restaurants and bars. The location is not to far from Central Milton Keynes if people want to venture off.

From what I can tell, the location should be quiet enough for us at the weekend. There were very few cars there today. I will pop down there at 2pm on Sunday to make sure it doesn't get crowded.

The only thing that we ask is that everyone behaves themselves when you get into the carpark. It is marked as a public carpark on the map, but that doesn't stop the land-owners kicking up a fuss if people start misbehaving.

Basic directions are...

Get onto the M1 and head towards Junction 14. Come off at Junction 14 and if coming from the North, Turn RIGHT, if coming from the South, Turn LEFT.

You will now be on the A509. Go straight over the first TWO roundabouts that you come to, turn right at the THIRD roundabout. Then turn right at the FIRST (smaller) roundabout that you come to. You should now be in the carpark that has been chosen for the location. When in the carpark, keep following it round till you see car parking bays with room for 3 cars. I suggest we park up here.

It's fairly straight forward to find. I shall be there in a black J reg Nova at about 1:45pm.

Ben,

Do you know how the road system works in Milton Keynes? If so, then you'll know that they work on a Horizontal & Vertical method.

Basically from the Xscape Snowdome you want to try and get on the H5 and head North (you should see signs pointing towards the M1) Once on the H5, follow it north until you meet the V10 Once you come to the roundabout where you meet the V10, turn Right and follow the road over the first roundabout and then turn left at the second roundabout (Where it says "P" on the map above).

You should be able to find it ok. Breeny might post a mobile number that you can contact him on should you get lost.

Could we try not to let this post go off topic too much, I wanna make sure everyones clear on whats happening on 1st December. Plus, I'm sick of getting Emails saying there has been a reply to this post only to find it's Wisewood dribbling on about some grandma :P

Ollster, if the weather is dry on the day, it won't do your car any damage to drive to the Meeting. It won't really do your car any damage driving whilst it's raining. It's when they put salt on the roads that your bodywork starts to get f***ed. Have a think, as chances are by the time you get there you'll be saying "I wish I came in my Nova now" :)

Update...

I went to the venue today at just gone 2pm and there were plenty of car parking spaces :) There were quite a few cars parked there, but providing everyone behaves themselves we shouldn't have any bother. If we are asked to leave the premises, I've found another location which was empty and will do us just as well.

ive got a good plan, we'll put him on the front of my bonnet(nothing kinky wisewood before u get excited) so he's facing the windscreen and holding on for dear life, then ill drive towards the lake and brake suddenly, that way i can keep asking him if he'll help me while ive gathering speed, if he doesnt give in and say yes then ill brake sharply.
I once did this with a mate, he jumped on ym bonnet while i was reversing, i was going slowly then suddenly went faster, he fell off and tumbled, i did feel bad, but u should of seen his face, like a rabbit before getting run over, it was sooo funny.
so wise, u are helping me, or your riding the hour and half on the roof!

Just a quick question Neil - what time are we setting off?

I have a serious dislike of water - especially when you can't see the bottom... used to put up with it when i went waterskiing because it was a good incentive not to fall in... which made me better at it... and since Neil wont want his car seats wet - and I wont want to walk home, it would be best if i was placed no where near that lake.
